This is the error message I get:

Some sort of error just happened. The error was logged and Tim has been alerted. If problems persist, email timspaldingAT SIGNlibrarything.com

In most cases, the problem can be fixed by using this link.

The reported error was:

Problem with the concurrent query manager in the LibraryThing Bureau of Garbage Collections.

We have an entire room of trained monkeys working to solve the problem..

This is still happening.

I think those trained monkeys are shirking their job.

They've probably not completed writing the complete works of Shakespeare yet.

Well, tell them to put Shakespeare on the back burner.

There are some images that need unflagging, and the error message persists.

This is still a problem. People are erroneously flagging images (someone just flagged KingRat's image of Elizabeth Taylor, the actress, saying that it was "not the author", when, in fact, there are books by her on that author page), and they cannot be unflagged. This means someone has to go to the trouble of reposting the image.

Please fix this!

All the photo related problems on LibraryThing are orphans.

Looking into the unflag thing. I'm very sorry about other image problems. For what it's worth, I'm running out of patience.

Does someone have a particular image in mind? If not, I'll upload something to flag and unflag.

KingRat's photo of Elizabeth Taylor, the Elizabeth Taylor who wrote Elizabeth Taylor's Nibbles and Me.

Fixed. I've also added more links to the quarantine area which, frankly, I had a hard time finding :)

Thanks. I don't believe I've ever been there.

While you're in the mood, could you add some sort of notification to the submitter when a picture they submitted has been quarantined? Perhaps a profile message with a link to the quarantined photo.

Right now there's no way to know that your picture was quarantined except checking back to the author's page or the quarantine page regularly for a few days after submitting it.

Hmmm. Does anyone have a counter-argument? I'm wary of sending "You've been flaaaaaaaaaged!" messages although I see your point.

If someone complains, all they need to do is to stop posting copyrighted images. And if someone is flagged by mistake, they will see it fast enough and post a message to ask why... I am all for sending a message when your image is flagged.

Can this flag notice feature then be extended to other flaggery? Please?

18timspalding

I'm not into it more generally, especially on talk posts and reviews. It will raise the blood pressure level around here too much.

Fine.

How about a view, then, to see my flagged stuff, like on the Memes page or something? Something that makes it easy/possible to see where I am (in others opinions) acting outside the TOS, so that I may make amends, or otherwise ensure I am operating within the bounds of the Holy TOS.

Notifying someone that his picture has been flagged isn't going to do much without a venue to discuss it where the flagger is likely to see it. I suppose the flaggee could leave a profile message if he was given the username of the flagger, although if that is to be the main communication method than people who don't allow profile messages shouldn't be allowed to flag pictures.

21r.orrison

The message could include a link to the Author and venue pictures group, which is probably better than taking it up with one individual.

22r.orrison

And, having discovered that group, I've now found the link for recent pictures by uploader:
http://www.librarything.com/pics_recent.php?user=rorrison

But even that doesn't show flagged pictures!

If you decide not to send a message when pictures are flagged, you could at least show them in that list, so that the user would see what had been done, rather than have to notice them by their absence.

(You may have guessed that I am one who cannot remember every picture I've uploaded!)

That group also has a link to the quarantine page - where you will find the flagged pictures.

If you know to look there, and if you look there before your picture scrolls off the bottom of the page.

Paginating quarantine would solve that issue....

Expanding the pool 'size' of quarantined images before they vanish would also help. It's still the same limit it was in 2005 - but I believe there's loads more members and uploading happening now than back then.
At the moment, on some days when there's lots of uploading, there's little chance for someone to address why their image was flagged before it's vanished out of quarantine sight anyway.

Hmmm, Tim - looks like this discussion has come up before (re notifying someone they'd been flagged).

http://www.librarything.com/topic/22157

For the record, I think it'd be great if LT had an automated way of advising someone that an author/venue image they'd uploaded had been flagged and directed them to the authorvenue pictures group AND the quarantine page.

My preference is a profile message (for those with profile comments on) but even a view of flagged images would be helpful.

>26 ryn_books:

I've upped it from 30 to 150. I don't think that's the only solution, but it's a solution.

I think I agree about automated commenting.

29ryn_books

Thanks Tim
On another partial solution tangent, is it worth revisiting the thinking that only "paid" LT members can view what's on the quarantine page?

That limitation has never sat comfortably with me, as some members who upload an image can't read the comments on why that image was flagged.

I'll second that.
