I am looking for the title of a book wherein all the adults on Earth have died and only the children survive i think I was written in the early nineties as thats when i read it first

That sounds like The Girl Who Owned a City, but that published in 1975.

There's Shade's Children by Garth Nix but I think that was a late 90s book rather than early ...

Or Gone by Michael Grant but that's about 2005, I think.

There's a Larry Niven novel in which that happens, though I can't remember the title.

There's always Logan's Run and its sequels, but they were written considerably earlier than the 90s.
