Oh good lord, people - I can't even keep up with the 2010 group right now! And here you are, running off to start new threads that have gathered dozens of responses already. Sheesh.
It'll be a hectic year, so I'll be happy to even make it to 75 books. But if nothing else, I'll be along for the ride!
Sigh.

Hi Luxx.
Love the bug PJs the boys are wearing. Did you make those?

14London_StJ
Yup! I make new set every year, half flannel and half fleece. Brooks loves picking out the fabric.
15richardderus
Brooks picked out that beetle pattern?! Kid's amazing! Good taste! (Actually, I sorta covet those PJs, only bigger.)
16London_StJ
Brooks picks out all of the pj fabric! No, that's not true - I picked out the card suits because I thought it was cute. He picked out the dinos, firetrucks, oh my. I just realized that I can't remember the other three flannel patterns (probably because I haven't seen them in months). But yes. Beetles. Or, specifically, "Mommy - bugs! Baby bugs!" Sure, kiddo.
17richardderus
He'd probably squoosh actual baby bugs, they're so gross. Obligatory literary reference: When asked on a questionnaire how he, personally, would describe God, biologist JBS Haldane said, "I could not venture to comment, except to note that He seems to have an inordinate fondness for beetles." Being the most numerous creatures on earth, doncha know.
18London_StJ
I didn't. And I hope I don't come across one anytime soon. *shudder* I hate bugs. really, the cats' inclination to catch and eat bugs is the one reason why I allow them to live.
19richardderus
Oh, are you a roach-screamer? Once upon a time, my sister and I were on a long car trip, and a budget, so we stayed in cheap motels. Checked into one place and decided we were heartened by the strong smell of bug-killer. After all, if *we* could smell it, the *bugs* must all be choked and gone already, right?
So Winter took her shower, came out in her nightgown, and I went to shower. Over the sound of the shower I heard *un*earth*ly* shrieks and pounding noises! In my robe, I opened the door to see my sister leaping like a gazelle from bed to bed, making the most bloodcurdling sounds I've ever heard, and frantically beating herself!
I was a teenager, so I was laughing myself into unconsciousness...then finally saw *why* she was so upset...a HUGE cockroach fell out from under her nightgown! I laughed so hard I would've welcomed an oxygen mask, that is until Winter came bouncing over the beds and clocked me on the nose.
We checked out. They didn't charge us.

Ha! I've never seen a cockroach in real life, and I'm hoping to keep it that way. Spiders are my big downfall, and the cats feast on spider crickets.

DO NOT move to Texas! When people say that things are bigger in Texas, they are talking about the cockroaches.
Love the pictures of the boys! What happened to poor Max's eye though?

I've heard all about the GIANT vermin in Texas! No thank you.
Max tried to snuggle with my inlaws' cat when my husband's back was turn, and came very close to some real eye damage as a result. The scratches were REALLY bad a day or two before that photo. I'm not too happy about that, but his scratches are all healed now.

#22: Cats and their claws can be scary things. Just ask my daughter Beth.
I am glad to know Max is healing nicely.

Way back when, when cruise ships were first visiting ports in the Caribbean, an enterprising person made cages for the large indigenous roaches, called them Mahogany Birds, and sold them to the tourists. True story.
25London_StJ
Oh good gracious, that's terrible.
26Donna828
I love this "loony" thread - bugs and all. Never seen a cockroach? Lucky woman! I'll take spiders any day over la cucaracha.
27scaifea
I lived in a grad school dorm for one year, so I've seen cockroaches. I don't ever care to do so again!
*waves to Luxx* Hi!
*waves to Luxx* Hi!
28London_StJ
My dorm had plenty of pukey patches that perpetrators and housekeeping refused to cleanup, but no cockroaches. I was probably the only one who kept foodstuffs instead of booze, though, and I'm a bit of a neat freak.
29cameling
I love visiting your thread, Luxx ... especially seeing your boys grow up in front of our eyes. They're so adorable!
30London_StJ
I'm a proud mama. ;)
31brenzi
Once again I will say`you have beautiful children Luxx. I won't call them monsters but of course I'm not with them all day;-)
32London_StJ
Oh, but monsters are wild and free, which is what I want for them
33jmaloney17
Hi Luxx. Found you.
34LauraBrook
Such cute kiddos you've got there, Luxx! I've never seen a cockroach in real life either, and for that I'm very grateful. And, much like yours, my cats do a lot of de-bugging for me!
35richardderus
Happy St. Stephen's Day! Or Boxing Day! Whichever you prefer, Crypto darling, may it be a happy, happy occasion. And unlike here, BLIZZARDLESS.
36London_StJ
Oh wow, people have found my forgotten thread! Heh. I couldn't even keep up with 2010 through the holidays, so I didn't even think about popping back in over here.
Hello!
Stay warm in that snow, Padre. I don't envy you!

*grumble* Goofball UPS guy just flat-foot HEAVED my 'zon box into a 4ft deep wet drift! Goon! Cretin! Where's he from, the goddam South?!?! WET SNOW = BARELY SOLID WATER; SMALL AMAZON BOX = BOOKS; WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THESE MEET?!?!?
And the numskulls at the 'zon put *no protective packaging* around the books. NONE. That has never happened before.
Oh, just fine thank you, and yourself? The kids? Good! Kiss everyone from me!

Wha? Ooo, I'd be shooting off nasty emails, stat. If nothing else, AMAZON should know better! Every once in awhile I'll get a box with no plastic, but it's rare. And throwing boxes into drifts? Not acceptable, UPS.
39richardderus
Oh, I expressed my displeasure in quiet, polite, unemotional terms.
It says here.
I have another package coming from them tomorrow, so let's see what happens with that. So! What's on the slab?

Well, I just started reading Mr. Monster, so either that or Expecting 411 will probably be book #1 for 2011. I am working on my bonnet for my Regency outfit ... and I'm about to take a nap because nothing sounds better than curling up on a cold day when the monsters are snoozing. Ahh.
I hope your new package arrives in good order. I think UPS is sick of coming to my house (oh, Amazon Prime, you siren).

LOL So true, when there's no need to factor in the shipping costs, I spend a LOT more money. And time, too, which I think they like about as much as money.
Nap well, and awake refreshed.

Like she has a watermelon growing insider her!? *Cringe*
I remember when I was in kindergarten I ate an apple seed and was afraid it would grow in my stomach...but watermelons!?!? :o

Actually, Stephen, you may be interested to know that once the baby is large enough you'll be able to see him move - from the outside. There are doctored photos that will show you a clear foot and stuff like that is bogus, but you can totally watch a preggo's belly move around, and sometimes you'll see a distinct bulge as the monster throws a limb out there for giggles. It's very alien. I used to call B my little chest burster.
>43 brenzi: - Happy new year to you as well! I'm actually feeling very good. I'm just a couple weeks from the second trimester, and from there it'll be a breeze!
Oh, and here is my first "official" thread!

Love the photos of the boys in their pjs. I'm excited that 2011 will bring a new baby for you and lots of great photos for us.

#46: You've reminded me of that fantastic bit in (the British) Coupling, when they argue about how pregnant women are like John Hurt in Alien - so hilarious.
49FrkFrigg
Hi Luxx, just popping in to star your thread, so I might be able to find it again. Congrats on the pregnancy!
50London_StJ
Thank you!
>48 scaifea: - I can think of several things to compare pregnant women to, and not many of them are complimentary. ;) Of course, this stems from the fact that I'm a pretty aggressive preggo - one of the happiest times in my life, and my mood seems to take a turn for the worst!

Physically it's perfectly fine; I tend to have symptomless pregnancies. Emotionally, it's a different story altogether...
53London_StJ
My "official thread" post was buried, so please excuse the temporary bump while I add it again: Mad house!
