New Features: Pagination Sort

In attempting to sort my books by the number of pages, I discovered that the sort is not working correctly. If I choose to view the books in order of least pages first a few books with page count entered appear among the many for which that data has not yet been entered. There's an obvious error here but I'm not sure how to fix it... I do know that if a book has 450 pages, it should appear later in the list than those with no pagination entered...

There's a whole bunch of wonkiness with this, I just left two posts in the New Features thread about it. (one, two)

1. Some of my books had the page count doubled, and they were sorting as though that double count were the correct one.

2. Some of the books had the page count doubled, but were NOT sorting that way (that is, when editing the data, there were two rows with the same page number listed).

3. Some of my books are sorting as though the page count is doubled, but only have the count listed once.

4. At least one of my books isn't adding the roman and arabic numerals correctly. Others are ignoring the secondary numbers.

5. Some green data isn't sorting where it should, but is mixed in with books that have no data at all, like 1dragones seems to be describing.

All the examples for my sorting oddity #1 I fixed, but one of the books which was doing it was The Innocents Abroad, http://www.librarything.com/work/37064/book/47915057 - these books were all at the top of page 1, with high page counts. Daniel Deronda (http://www.librarything.com/work/17847/book/34975283) was another one, I think.

Thanks - we'll take a look at these. Thought we'd caught all the bizarro sorting bugs, but clearly not :-)

>1 1dragones: Just out of curiosity - in list view, click on the pagination field for one of the ones that's not sorting correctly, and just save it again. Then refresh the page, and see if it's still sorting wrong. Let me know.

The page and thickness sorts of my hand entered records are still out of order. Opening and re-saving the lightbox does seem to change the order, though the list is sufficiently out of order that I can't say for sure if the change is a fix.

I'd rather not have to open and re-save several hundred records, so if you can do something on your end that would be great.

Yes, resaving does seem to change the order in most cases. In one case though, despite my suspicions that the page count was correct, resaving did not change the order. Changing the page count and then resaving that record did work; however, I now think that the page count for the volume is incorrect. :(

Additionally, I seemed to have two books with a page count of 1. There's not a single book with a legitimate page count of one - at least not that I'm aware of - and even if there is such a book, none are in my collection. I would rather have no page count data than incorrect data associated with those books... but again, resaving the record would not allow me to blank out the incorrect data; the system insisted on something being entered to replace that patently false data. I replaced the erroneous page count of 1 with my best guess as to how many pages that book actually has... and that will have to do for now, until I can retrieve my books from storage to verify the correct page count along with other data.

I got tired of waiting and opted for the brute force method of re-saving the physical descriptions on all of my manually entered records. They now sort properly.

Yes, the newly edited records seem t be sorting properly as well. Though I've only really glanced through the top and bottom ends of the list.

Mine still aren't sorting properly.

>13 cpg:, 14 I believe I have fixed the bug which resulted in not being able to blank out green data. Not sure if that was affecting your perception of the sorting or not.

I recalculated sorting data for cpg and 1dragones: does it look better now?

If you are refering to the bug here then it's not fixed (at least not for me). It's blank when I edit but the green always returns in catalog view.
