I figured out by the fifth book that Snape was in love with Lily Evans, all because of the 'mudblood' line. I was wondering if anyone else realized it then, too.

haha... ha...ha.. you have too much faith in me as a reader to think that i would've put 2 and 2 together in the fifth book...

Well, not as good as one lady was. J.K. Rowling once met a fan when the 2nd book came out and a woman asked her if Severus loved Lily. Rowling started freaking out, wondering what gave her away!

Probably the lady had good intuition and took a lucky guess, based upon Snape's unnatural loathing of Harry.

No, Snape didn't really like Harry, because all he saw in Harry was his father - the reminder of the man he hated and the man that Lily fell in love with and married. But because of his love for Lily, Snape protected Harry, as Harry was the person she had given her life for.
However, when Snape was dying he realized that Harry had Lily's eyes and that Harry was like his mother, just as much as he was like his father. Snape finally saw Lily in Harry, instead of just James.

Yep. Snape did it all for Lily, but I think he developed a respect for Harry at the end. Not necessarily liking him, but he realized that Harry was a kind person, who was as much like his mother as he was his father.

I know. Those are the best type of books, the ones where the characters have complex motives. *sighs* I so want to write a book like that.

The lady figured it out from the second book; I explained how I think she figured it out a few posts back. I think it was mostly luck and intuition on her part, to be honest. Rowling is pretty good at keeping Snape's motives hidden.

Alan Rickman - he was J.K. Rowling's personal pick and the person she imagined playing Snape.
18ErisofDiscord
Yes he has, but I haven't watched any of them. Try searching his name on Wikipedia to find out what they are or looking him up on YouTube; should take you to some. :)

Well, they do provide good lists of things if you're looking for movies with Rickman in them.

I trully don't understand why teacher's don't like having kids use wikipedia. What is so bad about it??

They think that the people who write the articles "misinform" us because they are not "real experts" . I know it's stupid.

I suppose their beef with Wikipedia is that anyone can edit it and so lies can be spread - but honestly, it's not like lies can't be spread through books. How many times have I seen uncited sources and libelous statements in books? Me, I only trust what is cited and the source that is cited. That's it. No hearsay for me.
