I'm not really enough of a map person to know all the ones he listed.... but the butterfly is cool.

ETA: another link showing way way more projections than I knew about here surely one of these must be 'better' than al the others?

I used to have a world map with my state at the center. That one was best. It is no longer made, and I lost the one I had.

I've had a Buckminster Fuller Dymaxion globe since the 70s. It opens up as depicted in 2 dimensions, and can also fold up cleverly to make into an actual globe. On it are 100 small white dots, each representing one one-hundredth of the Earth's population, and placed at the geographic center of that hundredth. The numbers of dots along the Ganges and in Eastern China are astounding. Very bright man, he was.
