I read a fiction book back in the 70's that was similar to Children of the Corn by Stephen King. I don't remember much about it except it was about a bunch of kids that worshipped the corn. In one chapter, one of the kids did something wrong and was used as a scarecrow that was burned. It was a stand alone book & not a short story like King's version. Anyone have an idea of the title ans author? I need to prove to someone that I am not thinking of King's version.

I think this might be Harvest Home, although the person inside the scarecrow isn't a little kid.

Harvest Home! That is it!! And you are right, it wasn't a kid inside the scarecrow! Thank yoy so much! I knew I hadn't dreamed it.
