Its not a cartoon, but I was reading an article on how to keep your cats off the table/counter/bench today & the author's statement near the end had me laughing out loud:
"My cats free range across my countertops while I'm watching them because they know I don't care. I could yell at them and chase them off, as many people do, but why bother? All you teach your cat by this approach is that you are unpredictable, mentally unstable, and should be watched carefully for signs of sudden behavioral meltdowns."

But they know that already, right?
:-)
At least my cats do.

7> "What shall we do with a catnipped kitty?" is a classic. I always have to play it for the cats on Talk Like a Pirate Day.

I have a copy of this posted on the wall outside my office.

22: OMG that one is classic. Where did you find it? I have already shared it on Facebook.
20: That is hilarious.

That's great. Basement Cat is alive and well.

Not entirely about cats, but sort of:

This is close to where I live. Do you think the name of the pet store is a coincidence?
:D

Boy, I am still not good at the picture thing. If you get a chance to check the link out, it is so hilarious even if it isn't a cat.

#31 Robert Thank you for coming to my rescue. Like I said, it's not a cat funny, but it is so dadgum hilarious! Fellow feline-lovers, please forgive me.

That is a good shot! He looks quite disgruntled.
41guido47
IMHO Rory has always seemed a bit perturbed, And if that is AMY (my she has become a bit...) in the background, why didn't she fix it?
42tardis
Fix it? When she could watch his humiliation? Although it might have been amusing to have them stuck together :)
And yes, we're working on slimming Amy down, but it's tough. Rory helps by chasing her around some.

Amy's not fat, just really furry.
44tardis
43> she's both, I'm afraid. Her fur is gorgeous - really plush, but under that you can't feel her ribs.

OMG!!! I grew up on a farm...no way I'd have a pig in the house, but that one is ginormous!

If I knew that Cartoons about cats were allowed...

Medieval Cats by Susan Herbert

Big fat cat book by searle one of my top 5 cartoonists!

The Tales of Grandpa Cat also by Searle
I think that Searle drew some of the most "Decadent Cats". Must have been a Cat Lover! I will have to get some more of Susan Herberts works. Diary of a Victorian cat sounds intriguing.

You guys, Cliff over on the Lit Snobs list shared this which his wife found on YouTube:

Really, it is one of the funniest cat videos I have ever seen.

I watched the first one with the sound off - the addition of that hilarious music really did it for me with both of them later last night. Thanks 49!

48 & 49> That is absolutely hilarious!
In other cat video news, there's going to be an Internet Cat Video Festival in the Twin Cities. Again. Seriously. The Minnesota Public Radio announcer this afternoon couldn't keep a straight face as he read the PSA.

I recently read Sorry I Barfed on Your Bed (and Other Heartwarming Letters from Kitty) by Jeremy Greenburg.

It was very funny and very true. I could relate to most of the letter recipients - "Dear Door Opener"; "Dear Clump Scooper"; "Dear Attention Giver"; etc. Each letter was paired with a picture of the kitty sender.
From the title letter:
". . . although it is most unkitty-like to apologize for anything, I am sorry I barfed on your bed. I was sleeping on it, and now I have to get up. For that, I am truly sorry."

Amazing, Lizzy has never apologized for "chucking-up" on my bed.
It is just 'something' that happens. And 'we' don't talk about it.
WE have butlers, why I do believe his name is something like "guido" or something like that, who look after those sort of things.

I bought Edgar his own book to "read". I start with his book then set it down and get my own book. When I get back he is lying on his book of course and I can read mine in peace.

Someone needs to do a Cat Logic picture like that vis-à-vis computers and computer keyboards. At the moment Nonny and I are having a dispute over whether she can lie on my keyboard.

I particularily liked #3 - a new take of giving the bird. And #4 - I thought everyone knew 'Cats don't like water' but no one listens :-)

So Pinko, when he learns how to turn on the 'scanner', we can expect to see 'photo copies of kittie bums?"

For about a dozen years I had a cat named Mittens, the love of my life. He loved to nest on top of doors. Some doors had ready cat access; others he got to via me. He wasn't just comfortable there; he was pleased with himself.

Our half-Siamese, the late much lamented Cream, did the same thing. We called it playing VultureKitty, since she did a sort of stand up and hang over thing. Sometimes a bit creepy.

There is no need to 'click like' anywhere here. We do accept rational prose, expounding appreciation.
Possibly even a sentence or two explaining why you acclaimed the above missives.

#119 - My Taji has recently discovered the tops of doors too! Funny how its taken him over 4 years to work out there's another good high spot for him, he is oh so lovely but not so bright, lol :)
#123 - I had to pinch that one to post in a FB group about cats & kittens :)

A Story:
Charlie was in the living room bouncing the big exercise ball on the floor – smack smack smack. I walked into the bedroom to pet Sandy who was lying in the middle of the bed. I walked right by him around to the far side of the bed, then I reached out and touched his back.
Judging from the speed of Sandy’s appearance on the other side of the bed, and the lack of scratch marks on the ceiling, he must have used that private worm hole cats have.
I tried to explain all of this to Charlie, showing him the deep impression of Sandy’s prone body on the far side of the bed, and the much deeper impressions of his paws where he landed. I had no proof that Sandy blamed it all on Charlie’s pajamas that were folded at the end of the bed because he used that 6” neck extension cats use when in telescope mode, but I did my best to mime it.
I don’t think Charlie was able to breath through the entire story. It’s funny how just jerking your thumb upwards can set cat people off.

Strange, I tried to just link this cartoon from my HD. But I had to upload to my 'junk' file before it showed. I copied it from The NewYorker site. I hope it's OK for the occassional cartoon?

fuzzi, Do you think he was after the scarf?
And you could tell by his back hair, that he was not happy to see the person with the camera.

I'd say hairball more than cat food - no offense to Tasmania.

Do not watch this video if you cannot handle the vulgarities of You Tube commentary. If you can, however, it may be a work of genius and deserving of your attention. It is an enactment of the conversation of two or three people following the video of a fireman rescuing a kitten.

Just found this on my TBR pile. Cat Haiku by Deborah Coates
The book is not 'real' Haiku (I still prefer Basho ) but I do like the illustrations.

The associated 'Haiku' is:
I lick your hand and
Watch you pretend to like it.
This amuses me.

This morning, WAY early, I woke to find my dog's head leaning on the side of the bed next to me (she's not allowed on the bed). I told her to go lie down on her "bed", which is on the floor. She didn't immediately do as I told her, so I leaned over the edge to pat her bed...and then I saw the problem: Moonpie (one of the cats) was sitting in the middle of that huge dog bed. Poor Tirzah was afraid to assert her rights to her own bed!
Silly animals. :)

Hi Robert, #184, I see this every day wrt. my 2 cats. Max, approx. 7Kg. (7 yo.) wont approach Lizzy (18+ yo.) about 2.7 Kg. when he see her eating. He almost looks a bit abashed. As soon as she is finished, and I recon. she takes her time on purpose, he approached the food bowls. When allowed
