Here's a dedicated thread for the TBR Teamwork challenge. This is part of September's TIOLI Challenge. You can use this thread for general questions, finding buddies, and talking about other ways to find buddies: if anyone wants to set up a wiki, please go right ahead!
TBR Teamwork Challenge Description: You need to read a book that has been on your TBR pile for at least six months--and you need to do it with a buddy! That means you have to find someone else who has also had the book on their TBR pile for a long time and persuade them to read it with you. It only counts if the book is read by at least two people, both of whom have had the book on their TBR pile for six months or more! (Other people can join in too for the points--just note whether it was a qualifying TBR book for you.)
It's not easy to get to those long-time TBRs, and having a buddy will provide moral support. The tricky part will be in convincing the buddy to join you for the endeavour. You can post a challenge directly on the wiki, if you think you know someone else who may also want to read the book.
Example:
*Emerging Arab Voices - Peter Clark - Zoe (TBR)
*Emerging Arab Voices - Peter Clark - SqueakyChu (Challenge! Do you accept?)
Or you can just post your book alone and hope someone will join in. I'm thinking of offering a small prize to the "best buddy", who helps out the most people by partnering with them to complete their reads.

I've got one of these already, with Suz, but I've got a few other TBRs I'd like to get to.
Anyone interested in the following:
--A Walk in the Woods: Rediscovering America on the Appalachian Trail by Bill Bryson--reading with streamsong
--The Moving Toyshop by Edmund Crispin--I could probably still do this one
--South of Superior by Ellen Airgood--still possible
--Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand--probably not likely

Great, I'll add it to the wiki.
I'm already doing one more for this challenge but the Bryson book is the one I most wanted to read in September, from my list.

I've had Elizabeth and Her German Garden on my TBR pile for a very long time, and I know where it is. Books on my Nook don't get stolen by poltergeists the way others do. So, if anyone else is up for it, I am.

Unfortunately nobody has come up with something I can match yet but I can help Morphy out as Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency by Douglas Adams will fit challenge 6. Read a series book by an author who has written more books in another series.
Adams is best known for the Hitchhiker series and Dirk Gently has a sequel The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul.

Hi Calm,
you do like fantasy and historical fiction - same here. Maybe we could buddy up with something?

17 - drachenbraut23 - I'm a bit busy for the next week or two, but if you want to take a look at my "to read" collection and choose something I'll let you know if it has been there for more than six months and if there is any chance of me getting it read this month. I did have a quick scan through your TBR collection and the only one I spotted that fits this challenge is The Poisonwood Bible but I don't think I'll have the attention span for it this month
I will be sort of around until Tuesday and will be back online at the start of the following week.

Looking for a buddy! Anyone want to join me reading one of the following books?
The Tragedy of Richard the Second by Shakespeare
King Lear by Shakespeare
Much Ado about Nothing by Shakespeare
The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
Evil Under the Sun by Agatha Christie
The Lantern Bearers by Rosemary Sutcliff
The Pursuit of Alice Thrift by Elinor Lipman
Lark and Termite by Jayne Anne Philips
I'd like to try for one - I have to make progress in a couple of nonfiction books I have to read for work before I really feel confident about filling up the challenges with other books I want to read...

1. The Swan Thieves - Elizabeth Kostova

3. Orcs - Stan Nicholls (one of the many books I have not yet catalogued)
Well, that's the three books I found on your TBR list. All other's we share I have read already. :)

drachenbraut23 -
I've had The Swan Thieves on my wishlist for longer than six months and finally picked up a copy a few months ago so I think that one fits.
I'm waiting until I have the whole trilogy until I start The Last Stormlord, so would rather not read that one.
I've only had Orcs for five months! That's a shame as I would have liked it to fit:(
So it looks like The Swan Thieves is the only one that fits the challenge and I think I can read it this month.
I had much the same experience looking through your catalogue, most of the books we share in your TBR collection I have already read. I might take a quick look through all the books we share as there might be some that aren't in that collection as I catalogued most of my books before collections were introduced and I am sure there are some books that I still haven't read in my library.

*wink* at calm - great, I am very pleased with your choice. So, The Swan Thieves it will be.
I have only got the first on of the The Last Stormlord as yet.
If I am not mistaken we share some 400+ books. Unfortunately my library is still quite unorganised and I have not entered all my books yet, also I am busy transferring my son's book into his own account. Very, very time consuming. I am trying to get him to write some reviews as well, so he can keep up with his English and to improve his German, unfortunately he is just a lazy bugger *grin*

I am part way through The Redbreast but unfortunately it has not been on my TBR pile long enough. Too bad!
33Chatterbox
The Redbreast has been on my TBR pile for years... and I am stuck 21% of the way into it, Anne. Perhaps if we were working together, this would drag me through it? Ditto with Faceless Killers, although that hasn't been as prolonged!
34wandering_star
I could read either The Story of Lucy Gault or Passing... and should then probably stop looking at this thread, as I don't want to over-book myself on these paired reads!
35lahochstetler
Gennyt and I will be reading Union Street if anyone wishes to join. I just finished my copy- started reading and couldn't stop. Fabulous book.
36_Zoe_
Just a reminder that third (fourth, fifth) people can join in for general shared read points even if they haven't had the book on their TBR pile long enough: there just have to be at least two long-time TBR readers involved for the book to qualify.
38AnneDC
Suzanne, I'm up for either one of those--you pick! Faceless Killers is shorter, but if you're already 21% into The Redbreast that may be the way to go. They are absolutely equal in priority for me (and have been sitting on my shelf exactly the same amount of time.)
(Did I see somewhere that you were looking for a possible buddy for The Man With the Wooden Hat? That doesn't qualify as a TBR for me, but I have it out from the library and am planning to list it in the article of clothing challenge.)
wandering_star, would you like to join me for Passing? I'd read either one you mentioned but Passing helps me out in a 12 in 12 category so I have a slight inclination towards that one. And I know what you mean about getting off this thread!

Can library books/audio downloads count as TBRs if they've been on your list for more than 6 months? My public library's catalog has a list feature, and I have two that have been on my TBR list for well over 6 months that I hope to read/listen to this month:
Snow Angels by James Thompson

Anne, let me toss a coin about this later this week, if that's OK? I'm leaning toward Faceless Killers, but am so caught up in the mayhem I've created by launching my Great Cleanup (prior to landlord visitation next weekend), I can't think straight...

54EBT1002
Well, I never list books on my WL or TBR here (I do have a few there from way back) because I pretty much use LT to track books I've actually read. My WL is in my head and my TBR pile is, well, all over the house...... So, we'll see what _Zoe_ says about how official the TBR listing has to be. I'm 100% confidence that Crusoe's Daughter walked into my house well over 6 months ago. :-)
