I'm starting with an ER book, Lessons in French by Hilary Reyl. What are you reading this month?
2cbl_tn
I'm reading 2666, Doctor Thorne (for the group read), and The Queen's Agent. I'm also listening to A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court. I'll probably be working on all of these for a while.
3DeltaQueen50
I've started Leave the Grave Green by Deborah Crombie, Once Upon a River by Bonnie Jo Campbell and, today, I picked up The Count of Monte Cristo for the group read.
4Nialler2223
I am reading Paper Towns by John Green, but previously read Looking for Alaska, also by John Green, this month. I also borrowed The Princess Bride from my local library that I plan on reading.
5whitewavedarling
I'm reading The Cinnamon Peeler by Michael Ondaatje as my bedside poetry book, and Werewolves in Their Youth is the book by the couch, which I'm reading when my husband turns on tv shows he's seen 3 dozen times (which generally means I've seen them a dozen!). More seriously, I'm still reading AIDS at 30, and planning on moving on to The Wounded Storyteller: Body, Illness, and Ethics when I return from AWP next week. Oh, and Pandora's Daughter is around here somewhere, though it's not quite keeping my attention.
6BookLizard
I'm reading the Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher. Finished Storm Front last night and enjoyed it more than I would have thought possible. Just started Fool Moon.
7lkernagh
Right now I am reading Snow Falling on Cedars and The Count of Monte Cristo.
8christina_reads
I just started Luckiest Man: The Life and Death of Lou Gehrig by Jonathan Eig.
9LittleTaiko
Lots of books have been started: The Age of Miracles, If on a Winter's Night a Traveler, Anna Karenina, The Complete Persepolis, The Sound of Broken Glass, Fire Watch, The Count of Monte Cristo.

My reading list so far includes...
Awakening - Reading for: Year of the Snake Challenge
Rifles for Watie - Reading for: Newbery Challenge
Ladder Of Years - Reading for: Orange Award Challenge
The Galley Slave - Reading for: Reading Globally & Europe Endless Challenges
The Third Chimpanzee - Reading for: 12 in 12 Challenge
For the letters of this month, I'll start out with the Wizard of Oz, since the movie is coming out I decided to reread the series (I loved the books first)... I've also got Elijah of Buxton (Christopher Paul Curtis), Old Yeller, and On the Way Home. All of these books are in my storage box which is one of the 13 categories I've got for my reading lists. I want this box back in storage so I can fit more than one person at my kitchen table. ;) This bunch also helps knock out my Newbery category.

I've finished The Sunday List of Dreams by Kris Radish and am in the middle of The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest and The Cove by Catherine Coulter. Also have an ER book to read, but now that we're back from vacation my reading will probably slow down a bit.
13psutto
finished sandman volume 5 and have started among the believers as well as slowly reading Mémoires d’outre-tombe and Jagannath
14inge87
I'm currently reading Master and Commander and The Girl who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of her own Making. Both books involve ships, but the similarities end there.
15christina_reads
I also started The Count of Monte Cristo for the group read. It's going to be my bedtime reading because that book is too big to carry around all day. :) It's times like these when I can see the advantages of an e-reader...
16cmbohn
I finished If Death Ever Slept. My library only had it as a large print edition, and I really liked being able to read it without my glasses on!
17RidgewayGirl
I've finished The Liars' Club by Mary Karr, which made me feel like the best mother in the world, and am now reading Jeffrey Eugenides's The Marriage Plot for the AwardCAT. I'm also reading Seven Days in the Art World, which is very interesting.
18fuzzi
I've finished The Tide in the Attic, and am now reading The Mysterious Affair at Styles.
On deck next are
Catalyst
and
All Quiet on the Western Front.

I've finished The Cove by Catherine Coulter and am going to begin my Agatha Award book The Long Quiche Goodbye by Avery Adams while I continue to read The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest
24soffitta1
I'm reading A Confederacy of Dunces. I plan on reading The Corrections and Freedom, as well as finishing Mary Queen of Scots (in 2 volumes). As for the rest of the month, well, 1001 books as well as some World Book Night reading. I am meeting a friend at the weekend, so I imagine we'll swap some books, so something new and shiny!
25VictoriaPL
I am plowing through March Violets by Philip Kerr at incredible speed, which is both good and bad at the same time - I want it to last longer. It's like if Bogart had been in Berlin. Fantastic. *waves to @jonesli*
26lsh63
* Waves back to Victoria* I'm also enjoying March Violets. You're right I can definitely picture a Bogie/Berlin image while I'm reading. I'm also working on The Complaints.
27clfisha
I have finished Crime and Punishment. I of course cannot admit it was a great read and not difficult at all. It was hard. I had to wade. I need a merit badge ;-)
Anyway now reading the utterly fabulous (so far) They Shoot Horses Don't They by Horace McCoy (I haven't see the film)

29electrice
>27 clfisha: Well you sure earned it !
30sandragon
I've finally finished When Christ and His Saints Slept. The last third definitely went quicker than the first two, for some reason. I liked it enough to want to join in the group read for Time and Chance in April.
Now onto Changing Vision by Julie Czerneda, for March's Alpha Cat.

I was just notified that the newest Collin Cotterill is waiting for me at the library. I have something to look forward to this weekend! *happy dance*
33VictoriaPL
I'm starting the weekend right with Kindness Goes Unpunished by Craig Johnson.
34dudes22
I've finished The Long Quiche Goodbye - my choice for the Agatha Award book and am starting An Arsonist's Guide to Writers' Homes in New England by Brock Clarke for my Morning News Award book. And continuing with The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest
35PawsforThought
I have a WW1 theme for March and have just finished Birdsong; I've just started All Quiet on the Western Front (also a group read) and have A Very Long Engagement and The Zimmermann Telegram lined up. If there's time, I'll read a few more WW1 books I checked out from the library.
Also this month are the group reads of A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court and the three-month read The Count of Monte Christo (I haven't started that one yet).

After @ 60 pages, I abandoned An Arsonist's Guide to Writers' Homes in New England and am moving along to Running in the Family by Michael Ondaatje.

I am not getting into All Quiet on the Western Front, and have put it down...sometimes I just have to be in the mood, y'know?

40> I hope you like Warm Bodies - I did, and the movie was also funny.
I've got three books going now - Grave Peril by Jim Butcher on the Kindle, a "re-read" of Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison on audiobook, and Finger Lickin' Fifteen by Janet Evanovich in a book. :-)

I'm still working on 2666 and I'm determined to finish it this week. I'm also reading Doctor Thorne with the group read and listening to Child of Dandelions. I took a much-needed break from 2666 today to read Strawberry Yellow, my February ER book.

having finished my life with the Taliban at the weekend I've started between two thorns

I just finished The House of Silk by Antony Horowitz - Sherlock Holmes pastiche, very good. Now I'm reading an Andre Norton book I got free for the Kindle, Time Traders. It's still free if you want to try it. It kept me up late reading!
48PawsforThought
47. The House of Silk is really good - I read that last year.
49sandragon
I listened to Derek Jacobi read The House of Silk last year. He did a fantastic job.
50PawsforThought
49. Yeah, I listened to the audio version, it's really great.
51christina_reads
I just finished Warm Bodies and realized that it doesn't actually fit any of my categories! :( Oh well, I'm still glad I read it. On to J.J. Murphy's Murder Your Darlings, which DOES fit a category and also qualifies for the March AwardCAT.
52VictoriaPL
We really enjoyed the movie version of Warm Bodies.
Well, I haven't convinced myself to join in the group read of The Count of Monte Cristo, so I'm making up for it with Captain Alatriste by Arturo Perez-Reverte.

Just finished A Trick of the Light, by Louise Penny, leaving me up to date until the trade paperback of The Beautiful Mystery comes out in July (this according to the Chapters website). This is a series I buy but I prefer the trade pb over hardcover.

>43 clfisha: I remember you naming Waking beauty one of your two favorite books (The other was The troika). Both of them was out of print last I looked. Will be interested in what you think of this new one when you finish it!
I'm on a roll lately, with several 4,5-5 star reads in a row, the latest of which was The half-made world. Now I'm reading this year's first non-fiction: Kvinnor på gränsen till genombrott about some prominent, but rather forgotten, figures in the early Swedish feminist movement. Good so far.

I'm on a serious Mallory binge right now, I can't seem to stop! I have a few pages left of Dead Famous. Then I will be reading Winter House. After that I will give it a rest for a little bit.

55> Lisa, Mallory is one of my all-time favorite characters. I can't wait 'til O'Connell writes another - maybe you'll be caught up by then and we can it read it together.

Just finished between two thorns which I really enjoyed, I think Emma Newman is going to be massive BTW, full review soon. I am picking up a package tomorrow with two ARC, one I'm not allowed to talk about until April and the other I'll start tomorrow frankenstein's cat

51> It does fit into one of your categories. Don't you remember the scene where R is waiting in the yard when Julie comes out on her balcony?

@ 58 -- HA! I even mentioned that in my review of the book (which I just posted), yet I failed to make the connection! But I feel like that's a pretty big stretch...

59> Doesn't get much more star-crossed than living and undead. LOL. Her father wants to kill him; his "family" wants to eat her. Her friend there is the nurse. If you read any reviews for the movie, they'll tell you it's Romeo and Juliet with zombies.

Just needed to mention somewhere thst this group currently holds the top three Hot Reviews. We rule, we do.

The Running Foxes by Joyce Stranger...think of All Creatures Great and Small told from the farmers' perspectives.
It's a reread from the original read many years ago, and it's still very very good!
After I finish this reread, I can then go on to book #2, which I have not read: Lakeland Vet. And then a reread of book #3 in the series, "Rex" (which for some reason I can't force into a Touchstone, bummer.

I've just finished The Marriage Plot by Jeffrey Eugenides, which I loved. So now I'm finishing up Seven Days in the Art World by Sarah Thornton and continuing with A Quiet Belief in Angels, which is losing steam, but I still want to see where it goes, and Infinite Jest, which is, indeed, infinite.
I'm not sure what to read next and have pulled out a small pile to choose from. My next book will be either The Round House by Louise Erdrich, Dear Life by Alice Munro (both featured in the currently raging Tournament of Books), Raven Black by Anne Cleeves, Raised Right by Alisa Harris or Await Your Reply by Dan Chaon. Maybe I should flip a coin.

It's a contest that pits book against book in a fight that results in a single champion. Along the way, judges tell us about each book and declares a daily winner. The reviews are fun, the judges are interesting and the entire set-up makes for a lot of excitement. I've been following it closely and am having a blast, although it has added to my wish list!

I was enjoying The Sisters Brothers until my Nook started being uncooperative , I can't get it out of permanent sleep mode, so I will be moving on to Winter House in the meantime.
I hope this is temporary, because I just might have a breakdown over it. Just kidding, but seriously ? There are a lot of books on there!
Of course this might force me to work on actual TBR while electronic TBR is unavailable.

Still working on Count of Monte Cristo and am loving it. The plan is to get to The Road this weekend too for AwardCAT, but we'll have to see how it pans out. :)

Ack! That's my fear with my kindle. That it will break and I'll lose my library. Yes, I know that theoretically it all exists in the cloud. Also, what if it breaks on the first day away on vacation? Hence the packing of paper books.
81BookLizard
76> Did you try Nook's online chat support? They had me try a bunch of things when my Nook froze. Mine wasn't in sleep mode though, it was frozen on a page. (I never did get it working and I ended up shipping it back to get a replacement and buying a Kindle Paperwhite in the meantime.)
80> Good advice, I'm going on vacation soon. Better pack a few paperbacks . . . if I can find something that won't scandalize my friend's kids. . . . Hmmmm, maybe my replacement Nook will arrive before I leave and I can load some books on that for backup. LOL.

83> Good luck! If you do have to upgrade and like to read in bed, I recommend the SimpleTouch with Glow Light. I thought about getting a tablet, but you have to recharge them constantly. If you just have an e-reader, the charge can last a lot longer.

I agree with 85. I love the front light on my SimpleTouch. It comes in handy on so many occasions.

I have been OD'ing on YA to get through the HUB challenge but this morning I decided to take a little break. Hong on the Range by William F. Wu was sitting on my desk. It has tweaked my interest on several occasions so I decided to give it a go. Post-apocalyptic + Western + steam punk (before there ever was such a genre) + humor! What a combo!
90DeltaQueen50
I am really enjoying the YA I am reading right now, Ashfall by Mike Mullin, an apocalypse story about the super-volcano under Yellowstone erupting. I have also started the historical mystery Dissolution and although only a couple of chapters in, I can tell I have found another series to follow!

It's interesting that when I read 'classics' for the first time, some are great, like A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, but some are awful, like The Scarlet Letter.

Due to rainy weather, I've finished two books this weekend; The Round House by Louise Erdrich, which was excellent and which I read for the AwardsCAT, and Raised Right by Alisa Harris.
I'm now reading The Cat by Edeet Ravel, my ER book that doesn't have a touchstone because there are too many of those The Cat Who... books. I'm also reading Dear Life by Alice Munro and Raven Black by Ann Cleeves.

I'm on vacation and haven't gotten much reading finished. On the plane I read about 100 pages of Obsidian Mirror by Catherine Fisher, but it just didn't grab me. Also still reading The Good, the Bad, and the Undead by Kim Harrison which is good, but I keep falling asleep.
