When I did not need the information, I would see it all the time.
Now that I need it, I can't find it.
Sooooo, I need to ask. Two part question:
1. How do I post a picture in a comment I am making?
2. Can pictures be copy/pasted from other sites? If so how?
OOOPS, I lied....it's a three part question:
3. How do I post the cover of a book inside a comment I make on a thread? Can I copy it from my books and paste it on a comment?
Any links you provide, I will be happy to read.
Thanks ever so much!!!

H'mmm. I'm kinda thinking that I myself, don't much want to see cat pictures and joke pictures scattered all throughout the Talk and Groups sections. Just sayin'.

WOW Collectorator.....don't know whether to thank you or to bill you for my hair loss.
That is an awesome link......BUT, it took me quite a while to learn how to post the picture......I wasn't doing it right, but finally I got it.
Look at this beautiful picture, my first:

THANK YOU very much Collectorator!!!!

>#3, sometimes there are threads where we share pictures with each other....like the gardening thread.....it's just for fun.
Here's to you. Cheers!

Yeah but it kinda takes away from the maturity and soberness of the site; its 'library-ness'--which is an aesthetic I gravitate towards.
Hopefully there'll be an 'option' to turn off such imagery?
Othrwise I'll have to find some Firefox tool to help sweep them away.

Nope. I tend to put in the ignore list people that overuse pictures in general threads)... sorry - if they have something interesting to say, I will miss it but...)

Its like, if there were no pictures, then I could scroll an entire page say on my lunchbreak at my workplace without worrying that a 'gotcha' picture would come up on screen.
What about an indicator at the top of the thread, denoting the fact that a thread *contains* pictures, before one scrolls?

Some people use a few pixels of pictures for their signature... and these are not different from a line of text :) So... that will restrict a lot of your threads.

And you can always uncheck Options -> Content -> Load Images Automatically :) If you always use Firefox, that works as a charm.
removes LT graphics as well but... it is not too ugly.

Why don't you start a new thread and tell Tim about your ideas for turning off the picture option, or for the top of the thread to warn that there are pictures?
Sounds like a good idea for getting through a thread quickly.....especially if you are on your lunch hour and are pressed for time.
As for the pictures taking away the maturity and soberness of the site, I will have to disagree with this generalization. You are in the minority there.
Even when you first come to LT, there are books on the main page. Pictures are valuable.
But I will agree that too many can be overwhelming......I have yet to find a thread with too many, but anything is possible.

Here's to libraries, librarians, and library things.....CHEERS!!

I like books.
I like pictures too.
I like books with pictures.
I like pictures of books.
I especially like reading books whether they have pictures or not.

Still...a library or a reading room is not a movie theater with posters, nor a kid's room with TV blaring; nor a highway with billboards..you just don't know how it is in my town: everywhere you turn your head is a sign, banner, logo, slogan, shoved into your face. Its wearying.

*15 I do sympathize with you. I do, I really do. I was serious when I said to tell Tim (Tim Spalding, the creator of LT). He really likes when you give him your ideas.
I lived in Asia for a while, and it was like that.....banners and pictures everywhere. Yes, it is wearying. I enjoy seeing trees myself. I hate to put bumper stickers on cars, and I do not like to wear clothes with logos, etc....but, being a teacher, I do appreciate the value of a good illustration.
Cheers!!
*16 Your picture reminds me of the book I took my frog to the library by Eric A. Kimmel. Have you read it?
It's a great kids book.
