I scanned the first page of topics in this group and didn't see anything like a cat proverbs thread, so I started one.

Now I expect someone to point out something that I missed (derived from an old internet proverb).

Lovely! The only cat proverb I remember is "Curiosity killed the cat," which I always imagine being said by Anthony Hopkins in " Silence of the Lambs"...

Sorry to be a 'party pooper'. I found this site via google immediately.

It has some good ones

ETA. Even thought it is near the start, I do like this one •A cat is a lion to a mouse. - Albanian

MAX is fearsome in his Lion mode.

I like "Anything on the ground is a cat toy. Anything not there yet, will be." So true, so true.

When I shop for clothes, I look at them through the cats' eyes. Any bows or strings or fringe are just cat toys - to be avoided at all costs. I can't even wear drawstring pajama bottoms without being attacked.

#4 Attacked? Only attacked?. I have to look at such things with a view as to whether or not they are digestible. My Parsifal thinks that they are an exciting new form of catfood

5> I don't usually have to worry about them eating my clothes. *knocks on wood* Jack prefers plastic, and he doesn't digest it - he regurgitates it.

'In ancient times cats were worshipped as gods; they have not forgotten this.'

>4 BookLizard: I have to pay attention to strings and plastic bits because my rats love to play with/gnaw on them! For some reason they have a special affinity for plastic, and if it's plastic on a string (like the end bits on a hoodie), good luck getting them to stop chewing on it and attempting to run off with it! Hahaha

"In a cat's eyes, all things belong to cats." I have a small plaque that states this.

For Christmas I was given a plaque for each of my Burmese cat portraits. They both say:

"Domi Feles, Felix Domus"

Your nobody until you have been ignored by a Cat:)

Of course the obvious, and therefore proverbial:

Dogs have owners. Cats have staff.

Hi K4K, I also like this variant:

Dogs have Masters, Cats have Slaves

Amen to that!
