As I've written before I would PREFER "socialism" and what is sometimes called "economic democracy" but I will "accept" what I can get from whatever political conglomerate I can get it from; I am in no position to do otherwise...

In Canada we have lived with universal healthcare for about 50 years now. It has some difficulties in funding but still...it would be political suicide for any stripe of government (right wing Harper Conservatives or left wing Mulcair New Democratic Party) to tamper with the basic tenant that health care is a right as a human being...not a privilege for those who can afford it. (my phrasing).

We do not understand the issues that have polarized the USA on this program. Though I grant you that the stances are so polarized that I doubt Americans would ever feel good about having universal healthcare.
