For this month's challenge #7, you cannot list a book unless you have found one or more people to share your read with you. Please use this thread to find a reading partner, either by suggesting individual works or by posting a list of potential reads for next month.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!

Thank you, Liz. I've been trying to read The Palace Walk all year and Framley Parsonage since you tutored Heather. I don't think I'll do either without the stimulus of a partner - and I'll surely read only one of them even then. Is anybody interested in either?
3JenMDB
I'm hoping to read The Pure Gold Baby by Margaret Drabble and The Children's Book by A.S. Byatt. The latter is chunky so some motivation to pick it up would be appreciated.
4lindapanzo
Peggy, I'm probably going to read The Palace Walk in February as part of GeoCAT or otherwise, I'd join you.
5Chatterbox
I'd share Framley Parsonage with you, Peggy, as I've already started listening to it via audiobook.
Jen, I'm interested in picking up The Pure Gold Baby, as I have to read it in order to review it by Amazon Vine deadline.
Other books on my to-read-soon list include:
Knots and Crosses by Ian Rankin (I want to start this series)
Dorothy Dunnett -- the first book in either the Scottish series or the Niccolo series
419 by Will Ferguson, which I've been meaning to read all year. I know some 75ers who have read it haven't liked it, but I have enjoyed several of his other books and still want to read it.
The Broken Road by Patrick Leigh Fermor, the third & posthumous part of his epic travel narrative.
The Orphan Master's Son by Adam Johnson, which I've been intending to read since it was published.
No Man's Nightingale by Ruth Rendell, the newest Wexford novel, that will have to go back to the library by mid-December.

Suz and Linda, you have quite made up my mind!
I will read Framley Parsonage in December, trotting along in Suzanne's wake and try to seek out Linda in February for The Palace Walk. Thank you both!
(So when can I put *FP* on the challenge list?)

Great, Peggy. Sandy already put it in the Geo CAT wiki for February so it'll be a little group of readers.
In December, I really, really need to read the new Woodrow Wilson bio, Wilson by A. Scott Berg, which, for me, is an overdue ER book.
Anyone interested in joining me?

Either you can wait a little while to see if Suz responds here, or drop her a PM straight away. Once you have a confirmation, either of you can add both of you to the wiki.
(Obviously I'm please you've found a partner for FP!)

Put it on, Peggy -- just do me a favor, and add mine there, too!

I currently don't have access to a lot of books but these I do have if anyone wants to share a read:
The Spanish Bride by Georgette Heyer
The chant of Jimmie Blacksmith by Thomas Keneally
Soldiers of Salamis by Javier Cercas
Leo the African by Amin Malouf
The Salt Road by Jane Johnson
Lockwood & Co: The Screaming Staircase by Jonathan Stroud

I would certainly read The Spanish Bride by Georgette Heyer, but what exactly does 'sharing a read' mean? We send each other copies?
12lahochstetler
>11 aquascum:- it just means that you read the book in the same month for the same challenge.
13avatiakh
>11 aquascum:- if you want to read The Spanish Bride along with me in December then l'll list it in the TIOLI challenge. You will need to get hold of your own copy if you don't already have it. It's been on my tbr pile for a few years.
14aquascum
Ah, ok. I wanted to do a Discworld December, but I think I can fit The Spanish Bride in. Who says there are no wizzards in the Tras os Montes!
15LoisB
I'll be reading A Christmas Carol for my book club. Does anyone want to join me?

Thanks! I'm off to do it!

I've got Year of Wonders down to read this month. I know it's had a fair bit of coverage, so not sure there's anyone out there who hasn't read it yet.
Edit - Just to say that after no response, I've added this in the rolling challenge.

On my possible reads list for December are the following books:
In Pursuit of Reason by N.E. Cunningham
Timecachers by Glenn Petrucci
Elizabeth I by Margaret George
Reading Lolita in Tehran by Azar Nafisi
Crisis Four by Andy McNab
If anyone is interested in joining me, let me know and I'll put the book at the top of my TBR stack for December.

Ilana and I are planning to read The Sea, the Sea by Iris Murdoch next month, if anyone would like to join us.
20lindapanzo
Carrie, Lori, anyone else? Got any cozies planned for December?
21majkia
I'm planning on Fleet Street Murders for an Xmas read. Anyone interested in joining in that?
22cbl_tn
>21 majkia: I already put that one in the rolling location challenge, but I have another U.S. author I can swap out for that entry without messing up the entry that follows. Let me rearrange things on that challenge and then I'll add us both to the wiki.
Anyone interested in reading The Christmas Mystery by Jostein Gaarder? It will fit in another challenge if no one else is interested in reading it in December.

(15) @LoisB, I've read it before, but would enjoy a reread of A Christmas Carol. :)
27kiwiflowa
Suzanne I'll read Knots and Crosses with you. Just last week I bought an omnibus with the first three books called Rebus the Early Years.
28JenMDB
>5 Chatterbox: Chatterbox, great, I'll add The Pure Gold Baby to the challenge.

Excellent, Jen, thanks!!
Lisa, do you want me to add it? I'm pleased that this will prod me into reading Rankin at last.
I think I'm group-read-full up right now! And for that matter, my December TIOLI is looking very, very ambitious...

> 28 Challenge 7 - the shared read challenge! Shall I add The Christmas Mystery to the wiki?
31JenMDB
>30 cbl_tn: Sure - assuming we can do more than one shared read on the challenge (I've already got a match on there).
32Chatterbox
I don't think that's a problem... (If one read per challenge was a problem, several of us would be in serious trouble by now!) I do have to read this one sometime in the next two weeks. It's been a while since I've read anything by Margaret Drabble but this novel shares a theme with the first of her books that I read eons ago, The Millstone -- single motherhood. I'll be curious to see how she develops the theme differently this time around.
33Citizenjoyce
Anyone want to read Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline with me?

>>#31
I listed myself for two shared reads to kick the challenge off, so certainly no worries in that respect. :)
List as many as you like, and the more, the merrier!

I'm in for The Sea, The Sea! I'll add to the wiki (but what is Ilana's LT name?)
38kidzdoc
>37 wandering_star: Great, Margaret! Ilana's LT name is Smiler69.
39wandering_star
All on the wiki!

Any Green Dragoneers here to share Never Cry Wolf? If not, it could also go under the rolling country challenge for Canada. Morphy?
42Morphidae
Yep, I'm going to read Never Cry Wolf.
44streamsong
Morphy, shall I add it to the group read?

20 Linda> I have some Christmas cozies among my possibilities for the month. They are all out on my piano bench upstairs. I have no idea which ones I'll get to and which I won't. I was out of town when this thread first popped up and am just now getting around to reading unstarred threads. Private message me if you want to compare TBR cozies.

(15) @LoisB, I made a discussion thread for A Christmas Carol, here: http://www.librarything.com/topic/161917#
