BoekenTrol71's starting point

1BoekenTrol71
Edited: Mar 7, 2015, 8:50 am

Januari 1st, 2015 I start with 214 book on MTBR that were registered by other BookCrossers.

My goal for 2105 is, to take 30 off that mountain.

Ticker for the original 30:

That means, I'll have to hope that I won't be getting a lot of books during the year, otherwise I'll have to read more than the 30 I posted here... So far, the amount of books received through BC is: 31.

Good luck with your goal of 30!

Heh! I like your overflow ticker.

Will give this a bash. Have 30+ so will set target at 30 for year.

>3 SqueakyChu: Well, just a matter of precaution. I am really trying to be good this year and not buy books for me, but.... I know there will be new or BC-ones coming in (birthday, RABCKs etc.)
Don't know if it works, but, we'll see :-)

6SqueakyChu

I'll be watching! ;)

Jan 2, 2015, 9:36 am

The new year ins't 2 days old yet, and I've read my first book :-)

Will arrange them in posts of 10, in order not to lose track (worked well for me last year).

You're off to a fabulous start. At this rate, you will have
read 180 books by year's end! ;)

Congratulations on finishing your first book! I've started one too, but there are 613 dense pages so it'll probably take me all of January.

Finishing one so soon - gives you great hope that the pattern will continue.

The year is not even a week old, and I already have 3 new BC-books on my shelf. If felt SO good, to be able to choose ANY book I wanted, because they were all from 'before Jan. 1st.' And now that is already over. Sigh...
That means that from now on, I'll have to keep track of how many I'll have te read extra, to actually lower MTBR.

And number 4 has arrived already. *shaking my head in disbelief* I really can't read that fast!

20mathgirl40
Jan 20, 2015, 7:30 am

Umm, yes, I have that problem too. It's hard reducing MTBR when new books keep climbing onto the pile. :)

21BoekenTrol71
Feb 14, 2015, 10:26 am

I'm WAY behind with listing books read, received and keeping the ticker updated. I'm back again, not completely, but I take a little step every day.
That's how I intend to deal with the backlog too: one step at the time.

22BoekenTrol71
Feb 14, 2015, 10:48 am

I think I need to adjust the amount of overflow.... I received a box of books (not 'a few') from RoseOfDarkness.... It had 21 books in it...

23SqueakyChu
Feb 14, 2015, 1:54 pm

It's good to have you back.

LOL! At least they're not wandering into my house by the boxful right now, but the year is still young.

26ardachy
Feb 16, 2015, 3:59 pm

I've registered 175 books on BC in the the last four weeks but not one of them arrived in a box ;-)

27BoekenTrol71
Apr 3, 2015, 9:38 am

I've given up on listing the arriving books here. It is so much work to do things double....! I think I need a scanner at the front door, that simply refuses all mail that contains books.

On second thought: that would be killing to my activities as a BookCrosser. Hmmmm.

I think I will just read as many off MTBR as I can and see how far I get with my original challenge and do some extra for the books that have come in this year.

>30 Nataliec7: If I would have had installed one of those they use at the check in for the Eurostar, I wouldn't have come through the door: too many books taken home with me. (I was overwhelmed by the generosity of the BookCrossing community. Did not at all expect that!)

32Nataliec7
Apr 17, 2015, 3:44 pm

I'm continuosly overwhelmed by the generosity displayed by various bookcrossers. I have never had so many books! And I have a pile of birthday gifts just waiting to be opened in a months time.
A fab community!

33BoekenTrol71
Jul 4, 2015, 1:07 am

Despite I'm very much behind with cataloguing what I read in the various threads, I'm doing okay in the reading old books department.
Big challenge coming up tomorrow: the annual Dutch bookcrossing meetup. Will be releasing several, and hope to take home less.

34Nataliec7
Jul 7, 2015, 1:13 pm

How did the meet up go? Did you take home less?

35BoekenTrol71
Edited: Jul 15, 2015, 3:07 pm

>34 Nataliec7: Well.... I took home a few more than I released. That's more or less an unwritten rule: after this big meet up there's no organised release walk for the books not taken and then the people who stay late need to take home a lot of books.
My mother did better than I :-), so together we had a fair share of more books in than out.

The meeting itself was nice. It was good to see some special people (long term illness, pregnancy) or people I especially like.

And now I've had enough of meetings for the rest of this year: will devote my time to reading, sending books out and getting my administration back in order. Oh, and I do need time for work, household and family too... ;-P

36Nataliec7
Jul 18, 2015, 2:11 pm

Well at least you had a good time. And lots to read! I keep trying to go to the meeting in London but always too busy. Will try and squeeze it in soon!
Good luck with your busy lifestyle -There's never enough time!

I'm so happy that I've finished this challenge!

I'll continue to add books to this list, because there are many more oldies to be read. At least I can start ticking off books in the second ticker: the ones I've read more than the actual amount, to make up for all books that have come in this year, despite all good intentions at the start of 2015...
