I got four Japanese picture books, one of which is bilingual Japanese/English (with an oddly bad translation, but the illustrations are delightful). Plus Spectrum 22, which is a science fiction and fantasy art. Plus the audiobook for Erin Morgenstern's The Night Circus.
Also several lovely book-related gifts:
- library checkout card coasters
- library checkout card socks
- two sets of bookends
- stained glass of book spines
My family knows me well. ;-)

My husband gave me Corrag. No other books as gifts, but I did receive some monetary gifts which will go toward buying books!
However, despite not receiving many books, I did get several book-related gifts, or gifts to decorate my library: colored glass wind chimes I've been admiring all year at my favorite art gallery, with a desire to hang it in my library window; a stained glass window hanger of books; a poster of Joseph Mills's poem, "If Librarians Were Honest."

I wonder if we got the same stained glass window hanger of books? Here's mine, a gift from my parents this year:

ETA: Well, crap, here we go again. I right click the photo in my junk drawer trying to get to "properties" but that isn't an option. Every freakin' time I try to post a photo in LT, I go through this.
Posting as a link instead. http://www.librarything.com/pic/5124499

>10 amysisson: There has to be an easier way. I looked at the source code of the page with the photo and then pasted it.

This year, not a single person gifted me a book or even a gift card to a book shoppe! Apparently, according to them, I have too many books already ( that's not possible is it?).

Why, no. No, it's not.

Thank you! I'm guessing I should be looking at the URL bar when I do that?

>No, not the url. You need to look at code, probably a right click but what you see with right click depends on the browser. I used a macbook with Safari, I right click and choose "inspect element." I haven't figured out how to do that on my ipad.

Every year and for every occasion I ask for Amazon gift cards in order to sate my quest for more and more books. Alas, the pleas and simplicity of gift giving for me falls on deaf ears. I get lovely, thoughtful gifts, but really, all I want are gift cards.
Right now I'm loving A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman. Waiting in the wings are Kinfolk by Pearl Buck, I am Livia by Phyllis T. Smith and Worthy by Catherine Ryan Hyde, among several others. I've got a bunch of others that will also make the actual reading level of my collection, including some heavy duty non-fiction books. Still, I'm always on the lookout for more.

#16 - vivienbrenda - it's only been the last three years that I've had the bright idea of asking family members for books. I ask for specific books and have gotten quite successful at getting things I know I'll read. This year, however, my husband surprised me. He NEVER gets me books, but we've been watching the TV series Dexter and he had a great idea, all on his own).
From my cousins: The Quartet: Orchestrating the Second American Revolution, 1783-1789 by Joseph Ellis
From my daughter: Pacific: Silicon Chips and The Men Who United the States by Simon Winchester
From my husband: Darkly Dreaming Dexter, Dearly Devoted Dexter, and Dexter in the Dark by Jeff Lindsay
And, surprising and touching, Donna, a woman who works for me, conspired with my husband (we both work in the same department at a Tier 1 automative mfg supplier) to get me a $20 gift certificate to my favorite used bookstore. I plan on using it sometime in January, along with the $5.76 left over from a gift certificate from husband and daughter from 2 years ago.

I bought a first edition of Spectator Bird by Wallace Stegner with an amazon gift card. Got some kindle books too but have to look them up.
