The usual goals - avoid reading slumps, read what I already have instead of being distracted by shiny ARCs & new releases, and then get most of the books I've already read off of my shelves. I would like to have more books going out that coming in, but as long as I'm working in a bookstore I don't think there's much chance of more books going out that coming in. We'll see.

What did you think of Caddie Woodlawn? I read that as a child, am thinking of buying it for my kindle for a nostalgia re-read.

>3 sandykaypax: Hi Sandy. It was a sweet, nostalgic re-read. Caddie is still a fun character. I hadn't remembered that Caddie was based on the author's grandmother, so after reading it this time it was interesting to look up the family online and find out more about them.

The way native Americans are portrayed is not always accurate or PC, so there are some cringe-worthy lines. The author was actually trying to put the "indians" her grandmother knew in a positive light, but the result is usually misguided and condescending. I have no problem forgiving that as par for the course in the 1930s though, and enjoyed re-reading it.
