Wow rough start to this year. I only have one so far and it is because of my college classes. I am reading 9 books at once for two classes :(

I finished this one a few weeks back titled "Notorious Ruth Badger Ginsburg" by Irin Carmon. This books is a biography about Ruth Bader Ginsburg and her success through her early years and onto the SCOTUS as of now. It is not a bad read and it is actually pretty interesting no matter what view you have on politics, the book does not side with one. I would recommend it if you like biographies.

Whoa finished a second. Surprising myself here...

Susan Stryker's Queer Pulp. This novel is a non fiction book that depicts books and their cover art on the GLBT community and how they have been perceived over the years. Not a bad book if you are looking for a quick read. This is another one I had to read for college. I am working on 4 more for college too and then I should be back to reading books I actually want to read. (haha).

3. The Normal Heart - Larry Kramer

This is another novel I had to read for class. It's actually a play and it's been made into a movie on the AIDS crisis and when it first emerged. The novel is about a gay couple in New York and the one contracts it and the other becomes an advocate to get funding for research on cures and it shows how little was known about the disease at the time yet the large amount of people that were dying of it. It is not happy one and has a very sad ending so if you want a happy book don't read this one.

This marks book #3 for me this year and actually I'm surprised I've read so much. All these novels have been for class. I'm hoping that I can get into reading some books I actually want to read once classes end in may.

Book #4 - Fun Home by Alison Bechdel

This is a novel I had to read for class. It is a true story about a family and their story. It is not a happy one but it is an easy and entertaining read. The pages itself are similar to a comic / manga instead of a picture book or full length novel. It is worth a read if you like nonfiction.

5. Lone Wolf - Jodi Picoult

I am a huge Jodi Picoult fan and I thought this was one of the best ones I've read. However it is a sad one with a sad ending. Not all of her books end on a negative note but this one was an emotional roller coaster to its end. The story line revolves around a broken family, divorced parents, two kids, one kid moved away from home after fighting with one parent and now the other kid despises him. And their father gets into an accident in which leaves him on life support and the two kids have to go to court to decide who gets to be his legal guardian and get the decision to terminate his life or not. It is a good story to show how a broken family has to come together but it's not for a light read.

Alright another school semester wrapped up and I finished these three textbooks. The two women and politic books were really boring and a lot alike. They shared the same information and I thought it defeated the purpose of reading two of them. Finding out was interesting and covered a wide range of history. Would recommend reading it if you like nonfiction.

Finished the first book of the House of Night series by P.C. Cast called Marked. Very interesting book so far, it was an easy read and it was entertaining. Not sure if I'll make it through the whole series though. Will look into book 2.

Holy crap. Finished another one. I am reading this series quickly. Book 3 of the house of night series, Chosen by P.C. Cast. Very good series so far and the author is really good at throwing plot twists in there. I am going to be sad when this series ends....

Finished book four of the House of Night series by P.C. Cast called Untamed. I thought that this one was slower than the first three however it picked up at the end and left a good cliffhanger for boolk five Hunted I am looking forward to reading the next one!

May 27, 2016, 6:34 am

Finished book 5 of the house of night series. This one didn't have too much action in it until the end but it was still just as interesting. Her books really flow well one by one it's almost as if it's one continuous book and it never changes with each book. I will start book six today.

17OMBWarrior47

Finished Book 6 of P.C. Cast's House of Night series Tempted. Very sad ending but it will be interesting to see how things change in book 7. Will start to read next!

Finished Book 7 of P.C. Casts' House of Night Series Burned. It wasn't my favorite but it had a good ending. The author has started to switch view points so many times within the story that it is slightly annoying.

Finished Book 8 of P.C. Cast's House of Nigh Series, Awakened. This one was parallel with Burned regarding the war that's brewing. It was an interesting one and book 9 should be a good read. I want to point out one thing that I found interesting in the beginning of book 8 is that P.C. Dedicated this book to the LGBT community where as the other books she never mentions them yet has a couple within the series..

Hey there John. Yeah I have been going through this series like water, I actually enjoy it. But I am on break from school so I have been able to read more. However I start a summer class this week and it goes until the end of July :( So I might not have much time to read again until August.

Finished book 9 Destined of P.C. Cast's House of Night Series. Interesting read. Very unpredictable ending and great at the same time can't wait for book 10.

Book 10 Hidden finished in the House of Night Series by P.C. Cast! This one was predictable and seems to be leading into her ending of the series . Hope the last two books are as good as this one!

Read Women's Voices, Feminist Visions: Classic and Contemporary Readings by Shaw and Lee for a class I took this summer. The class was Foundations of Gender Studies and it was an interesting class to take. Covered a lot of ground of history and legal movements and differences between the genders. I wouldn't call it light reading, there were a lot of parts that were really boring but it is filled with interesting statistics if you are a data person.

Finished book 11 of the House of Night series by P.C. Cast, Revealed. Didn't see the ending to this book coming and was quite surprised. Now unfortunately moving on to Redeemed which is the last book in the series. I always hate when series end!

Aug 6, 2016, 6:35 am

It is a very sad day, I hate reading the last book in a series, knowing it's ended forever but this one has been a good one! Finished PC Casts House of Night's final installment Redeemed. After 11 books before it I was wondering how she was going to end it with 12. It was definitely the most violent of books but it was nicely rounded out and finished. No open ends left and it was not rushed. That is my biggest pet peeve of final books is when the author hurries to finish it. This series was a nice easy read and was well worth the time I invested into it (3 months!). If you have not read it I would definitely recommend it. And Blessed Be!

Started a new series! The Fever series by Karen Marie Moning. First book is Darkfever.
This series isn't finished but it is assumed that book 9 coming out in January will be the last of the series.

I was a little bit hesitant regarding this series. I had picked up one of the books of this series with a group of other books a few years back and intended to read it. However the book I had bought was book 4 to this series so It's taken me a while to find book 1 to start with and continue with it. This is also the first Fae series I have read. I have read a lot of paranormal fiction and science fiction / fantasy but this is the first series I've read regarding the Fae so learning the terms is a bit complicating.

I enjoyed the first book but it's development was very drawn out. The lead character is obviously very young but she is kind of annoying where as the partner she has in the series is just as annoying just the opposite as he is extremely gruff. I am hoping they meet in the middle within the next book or book 3 because it's going to get old fast with their bantering.

There was a lot of action in book 1 but not much plot development. It took all the way until the last chapter of the book to answer a question that had been proposed in the first chapter of the book. I am hoping that this is because Moning just needed to set up the background and setting of the story and that more will actually happen in book two Bloodfever but we will have to see.

Finished book two of Karen Marie Moning's Fever series, Bloodfever and it definitely did not disappoint! New things with the concepts learned in the first book, interesting plot twists and development. The characters are well rounded and the story is very captivating. Will start reading book 3 Faefever today. I hope the rest of the series pans out to be just as interesting.

Finished book 3 of Karen Marie Moning's Fever Series, Faefever. Lots of action in this one and a lot of tension. These two main characters are frustrating with their bickering at each other for three books straight. I really hope she eases some of that in book 4 Dreamfever. Other than that it's a great series.

30OMBWarrior47
Aug 23, 2016, 6:17 pm

Finished Dreamfever two days ago book 4 in Moning's Fever series and it is awesome. Book five appears to be the longest in the series so it'll take me longer to get through but I'm really looking forward to the plot twists and character development. Moning is a great writer and keeps the action going.

Finished book five in Karen Marie Moning's Fever series, Shadowfever. It was a large book, nearly 600 pages and as I read it was actually intended to be the last of the series but she decided to continue it on. I love this series maybe just as much as my favorite series Midnight Breed and I really don't want it to end! Moning does a brilliant job at keeping the storyline action packed, and interesting. Another book that I couldn't put down! Can't wait to start Iced, book 6!

Alright, I'm really excited about this one! My favorite book series book number 14 launch yesterday! and of course I read it all in one day! Defy the Dawn, Lara Adrian's 14th installment to her Midnight Breed series. Focus's on an otherworldly male named Ekizael and a Vampire female named Brynne and their goal to ally themselves with a powerful race of warriors to stop the otherworldly queen from killing the vampire race. Very interesting development from the series originally but I like it! 14.5 Novella is set to launch in October! Can't wait to read it. Wow I just realized October is next month. 2016 Where have you gone?

Finished Iced book 6 of Karen Marie Moning's Fever series. I wouldn't say this is my favorite of the series, this one was a little different, it took away from the two main characters and focused on two side characters that I don't really care for. But I've started reading book 7 Burned and it appears that she has brought all the characters back together for this one. 2 more and then the series is unfortunately over with (I hate when that happens.)

34OMBWarrior47

Finished book 7 of Karen Marie Moning's fever series: Burned a lot of new plot development and no closure. Two more books of the series. Lets see how she wraps this up. Started reading book 8 feverborn hoping she doesn't leave this one too open ended either.

35OMBWarrior47
Sep 17, 2016, 6:44 am

Finished book 8 of Karen Marie Moning's fever series. Feverborn was action packed and fast paced. This series has been great so far unfortunately book 9 does not release until January of next year so I will have to wait (Feversong)...I hate waiting for new books in series. Especially because this one gave a huge cliffhanger at the end of its 8th book. Rumor has it book 9 will be the last book of her Fever series however she has another series called the Highlander series and that series is tied with her Fever series. I have not decided on if I am going to read it.

I haven't decided if I'm going to start a new series yet or not. I have new books of series that I could start but I think I will read some solo's for the next few weeks until Book 14.5 of Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series launches in mid October. '

Finished book 14.5 of Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series called Midnight Untamed This one is a Novella and is only 120 pages long. It features one of the team mates from Lazaro's crew in Rome in which he meets with his past lover who is a Breedmate named Arabella. Together they find themselves in a fight to save her family while the breed around them turn rogue. This is an interesting read and leads into a spin off series of the Midnight Breed series which she will start writing next year based off of Dragos hunter's. This is a good read and I can not wait for the last four books of the series to come out!

I decided to step away from reading series for a minute and I found a Stephen King book that looked like a fairly recent release on a Target book shelf one day. It's called Revival and he published it in 2014. I have read plenty of Stephen King's works and thought I'd give this one a try and I honestly have to say that I am quite disappointed in it. Very slow paced, not much action, a lot of hype, and then the ending was just strange. I guess I must've missed the point of it. Nearly everyone dies and then nothing gets resolved. It was kind of like watching someone's boring day to day life and then watch them go through a tragedy and then your vision ends. I will be reading a series next and hopefully that will get me back to being interested in reading again. I would maybe give this one a 2 out of 5 stars.

I started the trilogy prequel to Cassandra Clare's Shadowhunter series called The Infernal Devices series. Finished book one tonight Clockwork Angel. It was a good story and premise, the main character is a little bit flakey at times but it is obvious that it is YA and It's a lot like Edward, Bella, and Jacob from Twilight just set in a different time period and country. I will begin to read book 2 tonight Clockwork Prince.

39OMBWarrior47
Oct 29, 2016, 12:41 am

Finished book two of the trilogy The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare called The clockwork prince. I honestly have to say I hated this one a little bit. The action and moving story line was good but the development with the main character was quite annoying. She is hooking up with two guys and then randomly agrees to marry one of them in the end and she's only kissed that one twice, two chapters previously she had admitted she was unsure of her feeling's towards both males. I find love triangles very annoying and the fact that the two men are like best friends and warrior brother's are even more annoying. I am going to read a different book and then read the last one of the trilogy, I just need a break from this one. Ick.

I decided I needed a break from Cassandra Clare's trilogy so I decided to check out Gena Showalter. She was recommended to me by a friend but I have never read any of her books. I decided to read her latest one Firstlife which is book one in a new trilogy she's writing called Everlife. it was a very good book and entertained me. There were several plot twists and connections by the end of the book. She looks at things a little bit differently. In this series, everyone living is expected to sign between two different afterlife groups and the two are at war so it depends on which part of the war you want to be at and where your morals and values are. It is an easy read and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a new series! Book 2 Lifeblood comes out in February of 2017!

I revieved "Demon Possession" by Kiersten for free on my Kindle one day through an author email list I am on and I decided to give it a try. I am not usually into science fiction but this story did keep my attention and I might read the rest of the series. This book one to her Shadow Quest series. I believe it is only a trilogy. Within the first book a slave escapes a space ship she has been held on for a few centuries since she was a child. She finds herself on another ship in which she meets her mate and learns who she is and what planet she came from. There is not too much action in the first book until the very end, it is obviously a set up for whatever the author has intended for the rest of the series. I will be interested in reading the rest of the series to see where she goes with it. Would recommend if you need a light easy read.

Nov 25, 2016, 3:34 am

Finished Cassandra Clare's Infernal Devices trilogy. I have to say I'm honestly not a fan of this series. The triangle was kind of annoying between the girl and the two guys and then there was a lot of action going on that resolved itself quickly and wasn't continuous. I might give the Shadowhunter's series a try but man I don't know after this one. I will find a new series to start to see if I can't have some better luck.

Finished book 38 for the year! When Blood Calls is JK Beck's first book to her Shadow Keeper series. The series is paranormal and focus's on many different species and not just one. It was confusing at first due to how many names she introduced and how quickly she did them but once you got them all down the book was an easy quick read and very entertaining. The series brings human law enforcement and homeland security together for the humans and the different species yet in mainstream society the paranormal species are not known to human kind. It will be interesting to see what she does in the next book When Pleasure Rules because she did not leave book 1 open ended.

44OMBWarrior47
Dec 23, 2016, 4:07 am

I finished the second book to JK Beck's Shadow Keeper series, When Pleasure Rules. I really enjoy this series as it is about more than one paranormal species and not just one. The first book consisted of a human and a vampire relationship and this one was a succubus and a werewolf. She does a good job at bringing in all the characters and rounding out the plots and keeping it entertaining at the same time. I will look forward to reading book three When Wicked Craves and hope that it has the same amount of plot and action as the first two had.

45OMBWarrior47
Dec 30, 2016, 6:25 am

I finished the third book to J.K. Beck's Shadow Keeper series: When Wicked Craves. It was a good book, shorter than the other three but just as creative. This time they had a witch and a vampire pair up in the main story line. She does a good job at keeping things interesting however I noticed the similarities between the endings of the last 3 books were all relatively the same and they end up in labs with a science experiment done on them. Not sure if in the end of the series she is going to tie the experiments all together or if she doesn't know another setting on which to have her final fight scene. We will have to see with book four When Passion Lies.
