Since LT introduced support for adding music etc. a while ago, my Recent News module has been increasingly filled with music albums and the like, making it proportionally less useful to me. Accordingly, as the subject says, I'd like to be able to filter what's shown there by media type. I do realize this won't be foolproof - there's undoubtedly someone out there entering Bob Marley singles and bobcats as paperbacks - but it should cut down on the annoyance significantly.
It may be noted that the module already allows complete control over which people's activities are shown, as well as which types of activities (adding, rating, reviewing), so allowing filtering also on media type should be a minor step.

Yeah, this was one of those things Tim promised those of us who actually like seeing books on LT, that adding explicit support for other media types would enable those of us who want to see books to more easily see them. I didn't trust it then as any more than a "There, there" pat on the head, and I don't trust it now, either, now that we're seeing exactly what I didn't want to see and there's been not even a whiff of a rumor about actually enabling that separation.

I didn't notice this RSI when it was first proposed, but I think I'd like it too. I don't find it completely useless to see the movies and music that other people are cataloging, but I only catalog books myself, and I'd prefer that my Recent News be books also.
