You might want to check out the author use guidelines for LT, which is not an advertising medium. See:
http://www.librarything.com/about_authors.php

No bank holiday in the US, sad to say.

>1 Nuzo: Is there much African horror lit. out there, particularly translated to (or written in) English? It is definitely a subgenre I would be interested in. Perhaps you could discuss other authors/titles in this genre and tell more about it. As >2 paradoxosalpha: points out, LT is not for advertising, but you are welcome to partake of the site as a reader and someone who enjoys discussing books. I, for one, would love to see this be an in-depth thread about African horror! Or if the group here would rather not, we'd be happy to have a thread discussing it over in the Horror group. :)

Nuzo, I agree with .Monkey. I would love to know more about African horror, and I'm sure that if you started some discussions about the writers you know, and why they deserve attention in the US and elsewhere, that would be of interest to a lot of people. That would lead to additional discussions that might interest you. Also, if there are authors or topics you have questions about, it's always welcome to start a thread about those things and see what people say. Two easy ways to get involved here.

If I may ask, are you from Africa yourself?

You might also try and head over to The Weird Tradition group before the summer solstice and nominate your favorite African horror story for the Deep Ones reading circle. We're usually happy to give a new author a try (and I don't believe we've read anything written by anyone from Africa yet, tho the current one is written by an author who lived for a good portion of her life in Kenya, and we've read a couple that were set in Africa).

Yes, I'm African-British and sadly, there aren't many writers of African Horror, hence my drive to create more awareness of the genre. Sadly, I seem to be making a hash of things as very new to this Librarything site and haven't quite got the hang of things. So, got a couple of comments about spam and self promotion which is the last thing I want to do. So, will delete that comment from this site and would love advise on where to post and start a discussion on African Horror. Thanks again for your lovely words of support.

Thanks so much for your lovely mail as totally new to this site and seem to be bungling things up already for myself re spam and self promotion...shudders! Thanks for redirecting me to the horror group. I think I'll take a few days to read up as much as I can about Librarything and learn how to navigate the site before posting anything as don't want to offend or put people off. And about your question, I write all my African Horror books in English so no problems reading. There aren't many African Horror authors out there, hence my drive to create more awareness for the genre. Again, thanks for directing me to the horror group and I'll be posting there soon, after I've figured out how to use this site. Have a lovely weekend now

An anthology called AFRICAN MONSTERS has been nominated for a British Fantasy Award. I wonder whether this might be a good introduction to African horror.
