>6 Collectorator: Done. Both curiously famous in their own fields.
>5 Collectorator: I've been researching and can't find a separate Margaret Cousins who wrote diet cookbooks. I'm not convinced that MC-1 didn't lend her name to cookbooks. She was, after all, editor of some major women's magazines. The diet book listed was published in 1987, well within her lifetime.

>18 Collectorator: Maybe. I've never done it. Should probably figure that out at some point, but for now I've got a queue to chew through and I just want them gotten done.
ETA: Is there a FAQ/walkthrough for the process that you can link to? Promise I'll read it.
ETA: I've got a message at the top: "This author has Common Knowledge edits adhering to a secondary, combined author name. Edit and revise as you see best." I've got two author pages that had CK on them, plus another for the current. All fields have the same information. I edit them all and leave them all in place, and nothing changes after the update. Should I be removing the information from the merged variants, I guess? Let me try that...
ETA: Okay, I think I've figured it out. I'm a big silly, aren't I? Looks like grobtyannelise and ashbejeanne are both done.

Whatever you do, if you're working on "Combination Issues" for one of the split authors (which it doesn't look like is your case yet), just don't remove the disambiguation message from the top section. Or you'll find an ugly bug. Actually, you might not find it, which is part of its ugliness.

OK, when I try to click Portuguese (Brazil) on the bottom here, it goes back to English on the top. What gives, and what's the workaround? Meanwhile, I leave this in more capable hands.

ETA: Is this so broken that we have to copy these to a notepad or something, then reconstitute them once the merged author records have been cleared?

>25 Collectorator:
I'll hit up VIAF on that if I have the time. Or rather, if I decide I have the time. ;-)

>25 Collectorator: But I think all those pages are referring to one guy mostly known by that name. I wouldn't separate Madonna Ciccone out from Madonna and split the latter on the off-chance somebody happened to catalog one of Paul Madonna's books by last name only (and where it's likely the autocombiner wouldn't even let it land there, and probably was an import error anyway).

The National Library of the Netherlands has the cookbook author Margaret Cousins of De vegetarie͏̈r op dieet as born in 1949.

>45 Collectorator: done.
Interestingly, (1) and (3) are related, but I couldn't discover how directly. I'll be adding disambig notes.

>102 Collectorator: No, but most issues are in split ones -- if the singles have them, I'd still fix them.
109AnnieMod
And if it needed fixes, it would have read "is not split but still had issues so fixed." Your point being?

>193 Collectorator: Made me wish there was a power edit type of thing for assigning authors.
