Welcome! Glad you have found us and begun a reading thread. My heart quivers with fear when I hear about book sites closing. What would I ever do without LibraryThing? I hope that you will find security here, a reprieve from the insecurities of site closures and many new and old friends.

Many thanks for the welcome,Mrs Lee! Huge swathes of would-be reading time have been lost with all the constant moving,editing,setting up groups,moving lists etc.We voyagers are hoping to have come to safe harbour now.
As you can see,I am a bit OCD with my lists,all these books were pencilled in by 1st January! lol
The majority of my books are decades old,and in particular this year I am focused on 40s and 50s stuff . And a mere 20 are post 2000,mostly the latest by a few UF fave authors etc.I have some great stuff on there,but I have got way behind,and possibly for the first time I wont finish my challenges,but I'll have a wonderful time trying! :0)

Welcome again, Dusty. I am so very glad you started a thread. That is one intimidating list!

As for your Shelfari & Leafmarks woes, I hope all that turmoil is behind you for good. I don't think I could handle it if I had to move all my data elsewhere. I had my my tenth LibraryThing anniversary (Thingaversary) a couple of months ago, and next month this group will be turning ten as well. I anticipate many decades of book obsession to come.

Great list, dustydigger! I am a particular fan of Octavia Butler, so I'm always glad to see her name mentioned. I haven't read all her books yet, mostly because I want to keep her in reserve for when i really need something good to read...

I too am saving up my Butler books for future reading. I have both of the 'Parable' books on my list for later this year.

Over on Worlds Without End we have a list of 60 books from 1950-1999 which may have some claim to surviving their normal zeitgeist concerns and actually surviving as literature into the 22nd century. Both these books,together with Parable of the Sower made it on to the list,which is quite impressive really!

I am famous (notorious? better ask my old friend ScoLgo who has been casting a critical eye over them for about 4 years on Shelfari,then Leafmarks and now LT!) for my lists of great SF. I am a huge fan of the Worlds Without End site,which has the ultimate in lists. If you dont want your TBR to grow exponentially,keep away,but if you want a fabulous SF/F/H resource,beautifully laid out,jam packed with numerous lists from the Hugos to the Golden Tentacle,and complete with fun book challenges,come over and pay us a visit there. I credit that site with enticing me back into the SF/F fold after decades away. Do take a look.
I am working my way through various lists there,so I hope to add them to this group too. Many thanks again for adding my list!

When I joined WWEnd back in 2012 it was almost moribund,but when it was decided to do challenges things perked up,but no one was ready for the remarkable interest in the Women of Genre Fiction challenge. Word spread round the blogs and the gals joined in droves,and once there demanded additions of female authors who were very poorly represented at the time. Now there is a fantastic list of WOGF authors, several women have become enthusiastic uberusers,adding a huge amount of new authors and titles,and the place has become a fabulous resource for spec fiction of all kinds,not just for old male WASP stuff! lol
I remember when the whole on site author list was around 1100,with probably little more than 50 women,if that. Now within three years there are over 3700 authors,of which women make up 1200. Now that is massive progress indeed!
