Bad search results for author James Patterson

When searching for author James Patterson (link to search results), the first result claims to be for James Patterson, but is actually a link to /author/marklundpatterson-4581412. This appears to be because of an incorrect Canonical Name that was set on Feb 24th, 2011 and deleted on Aug 17th, 2015 (history). Almost a year later, and it's still in the index, and even the first result.

Deleted Common Knowledge entries need to be removed from the search index.

Sounds like, now that the Canonical name has been corrected, that caching just needs to catch up.

Possible, but it was corrected almost a year ago - if that's the cause of the problem, then caching needs to update a bit faster.

Another instance: search for H. Jackson Brown and select authors:

The first result is for https://www.librarything.com/author/brown-7-5347644
On that page, the Canonical Name had been set to "Brown, H. Jackson" on Feb 7, 2011, changed to "Ladybug Creations Publications" on May 16th, 2011, and cleared completely on Jun 8th, 2015.

If it's a caching issue, the cache has been out of date since May 16, 2011.

Wow - I just found another case of this. Using the site search (top right), search for John Smith. On the search results page, click Authors on the left. You'll get these results: https://www.librarything.com/search.php?search=john+smith&searchtype=authorn...

Click on the first one. (I can't say when John Smith was entered as an other name or canonical name or whatever for that "author" but it's not there now.)

The real John Smith doesn't appear in the search results until the 54th entry, but that's a different problem.

Also, the problem in the first post still exists. I really don't think CK entries ever get removed from the author name index.

Imagine if more bugs took it upon themselves to self eradicate. How good would that be?

The first search result which appears to be James Patterson is in fact a link to https://www.librarything.com/author/marklundpatterson-4581412 - presumably because of a Canonical Name that was deleted in 2011.

All other examples listed above are also happening again.

Similar problem with Robert Jordan. If you do a site search, the first author that comes up is jordanrobert-44, which shouldn't exist
