When adding a work to a Publisher Series, it look as though the cover of the edition with the most copies is used. This makes sense for a Series, but not for a Publisher Series, where it would be good to display a matching set of covers, which are only from the publisher of the series. It would be useful to be able to select a specific cover in order to enable this.

This has been requested before, e.g. https://www.librarything.com/topic/167010 and http://www.librarything.com/topic/194629. It would be nice (although for older publisher series, e.g. Penguin Classics, some works could have multiple applicable covers).

Thanks for the links, I hadn't found them before. The previous discussions considered automating the correct cover selection. I think the logic of this would be too massively complex. However, it should be relatively simple to allow a user to override the default cover with one selected from all those available for the work.

I believe a lot of this could be figured out once we get that phantom "editions" layer that's been mentioned on and off for years but has yet to materialize.

Ah yes, the fabled edition layer. It'd certainly create new headaches, but by the gods, it would be the logical place for so much problem-solving. I wish that were the big LT redesign project of 2017.
