Last movie I saw...

was the Mist. I've never read anything from Stephen King but have seen a few of his movies. After seeing the Mist I can say that that man has a very sick and twisted mind.

Half of Metropolis. We'll probably watch the other half tonight. We are watching movies from the book 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die.

It's pretty slooooow and definitely over-acted, but it's interesting as a product of its time.

Last one at the theater was Bourne Ultimatum. Last one on DVD was either National Treasure or Stargate because the wife was quilting, wanted the background noise and nothing good was on TV that night.

Upcoming ones are I Am Legend and National Treasure 2, plus all the DVDs we'll get over the next few weeks.

Never knew that I am Legend was based on a book. I saw a sneak preview last night on HBO. I can't wait for it to come out. It's not the type of movie that I would normally see (super natural thrillers), but it does look very interesting.

If you haven't read The Road, I'd give it a try. It was outstanding.

I watched the third Pirates movie and was very disappointed.

I need to go to the movies! Husband and I plan on seeing "No Country for Old Men", and the son and I plan on seeing "I am Legend". Daughter and I recently saw "Lars and the Real Girl"...we both loved it, quirky and very sweet-natured.

I can't even bring myself to watch the third Pirate movie since I understand someone I love dies.

Nothing good happens to anyone, nobody gets what they wanted. It's depressing as all get out.

Holy Smokes, husband and I just saw "No Country for Old Men"....brutal, but fantastic. I spent several whole chunks of the movie hiding behind my scarf, though.

Ok, I saw " I am Legend"....and I have mixed feelings about it. I think I may need to read the book because there were a lot of things that didn't make sense to me. I hope the book makes things clearer.

Watched Shrek 3 - was fun but not as good as the original three. There was one scene near the end that had hubby and I gasping for breath and wiping tears from our eyes from laughter. We backed up to watch it again... and again! Let's just say it was an "interesting" way to light a fire.

Also saw the latest HP - OTP. It was alright. It skipped some of my favorite parts, like the group ganging up on Dudley, et al.

I saw Kite Runner this weekend. I absolutely loved the book, but only liked the movie. The movie wasn't bad, it just didn't wow me. Has anyone else seen it yet? If so, how do you think it compared?

#15 - The funniest part of Shrek 3 for me was when Snow White was tripping along the path to the castle gate, merrily singing to the forest animals, then suddenly attacking the guards to Led Zeppelin followed by Barracuda...Just hysterical for me.

If you feel a need to visit the dark side of human character, then I would suggest "Before the Devil Knows Your Dead" has Philip Seymour Hoffman, Ethan Hawke, Marisa Tomei, Albert Finney...

An interesting movie and well acted. Not my typical fare, I'm more of a romantic comedy or period dramas kind of movie fan. I am enjoying the rush of popularity of movies based on the fantasy genre though. It's going to get interesting to see how this progresses.

Anyone see the Golden Compass yet?

Also a big fan of foreign films - they are generally far less predictable and the characters seem more realistic at times. Any good suggestions out there?

Last one that I really enjoyed (maybe enjoyed is an odd choice of words) was Pan's Labyrinth... scary and all, but not the standard hollywood deal. Creative. Nightmare feeding creative.

Yes! Jean de Florette and Manon of the Spring are two French films I absolutely love. You have to see them together.

Also the French series Blue, White, Red. (3 films with those colors as the title.)

Germinal and Camille Claudel are also noteworthy.

I love foreign films as well. I'll try to drum up some more suggestions later.

Actually, (this is something that drives my husband nuts) do any other of you book nuts read while watching movies. I've been known to do this ... often.

Yes. My wife often puts a movie in the dvd player while she's quilting if there's nothing she's interested in on tv. I often read while she's doing this if I've seen the movie and only pay attention at the good parts. Commercial breaks during tv shows are also good for a couple of pages...

Watched "Amazing Grace". Missed it when it was in the theaters.

Superb historical drama about William Wilberforce, Pitt, Fox and other members of Parliament and the ending of the slave trade in England.

Only been to the movies twice this year. I refuse to give H'wood my money for serving crap and insulting my values and intelligence.

Saw "The Bridge to Taribithea" with the missus and "300" with the boy.

I would like to see "Legend " to see how it stacks up to the two previous versions. "Last Man on Earth" with Vincent Price and "The Omega Man" with Charlton Heston.

We went to see National Treasure 2 this past weekend. Fun but not as good as the first one.

Netflix movie: "Foul Play" with Chevy Chase and Goldie Hawn. Hubby never saw it. Very dated but I still laughed. Hubby fell asleep. :p Our next movie is "Man of the Year". We haven't had time to sit down and watch that yet.

Villandry-just saw The Golden Compass-I thought it dragged, but it was beautiful o look at and I didn't hate it. My SO enjoyed it, as did the friends we went with.
I was the only one who'd read the book-but it was years ago so I couldn't tell you how different it is.
One suggestion-if you can see it in digital projection, do. We did and so the animals looked amazingly real.

#14 - Just realized I never reported back on I Am Legend. Once in a very great while I like a movie better than the book it came from. I Am Legend (the book) was good, but I thought the movie was better. Just the right touch of darkness and heroism with a hopeful ending. And Will Smith was fantastic!

I have to say I was a bit surprised and upset at the two large families I saw bringing preschool and early elementary kids to this movie. No gore in the movie, but some fighting and a few occasions when things jump out at you. I can't imagine these kids slept well after the movie...I just don't get some parents.

no school = movie night w/ the boys: Rattatooie & Evan Almighty... the rat one was the better, 4 out of 5 stars!

Saw I Am Legend...good film - Will Smith was great as usual...I still liked the book better.

We saw Jerry Seinfeld's Bee Movie on Christmas day.

We saw Enchanted on Saturday. It was light and frothy but delicious like a shirley temple or non-alcoholic strawberry dacquiri. It was the sort of movie where the folks in the audience clapped at the end.

The movie could easily have gone astray if any of the actors had behaved ironically, but no one did. For what it's worth, there were a fair number of dads in there with tween-aged daughters or guys on dates. They started off looking a little grumpy, but I noticed them laughing their heads off too.

My husband and I just watched To Kill a Mockingbird. The book is amazing and the movie is right up there with it! I've read and watched it more times than I can count.

We are on a quest to watch all of the American Film Institutes top 100 movies. We've seen about half of them. Thank goodness for NetFlix!

again, the kids rule the Netflix list for the holidays... The Last Mimzy and Pirates of Caribbean 3 -- anyone free to babysit so The Wife can take me to an adult film?

You know that's almost too cute. Please don't fret too much, they do grow up ya know. The sad part is, you'll miss those sticky hands.

Netflix is wonderful, isn't it? We just watched "Man of the Year" last night. It wasn't at all like I expected it to be. It was a pleasant surprise. Robin Williams can be a bit much sometimes but he was fairly toned down in this although there was still plenty of classic Robin. I enjoyed it.

I just came home from watching Sweeney Todd. I thought it was wonderful! My husband hasn't decided if he liked it or not. :)

I have personally found the glut of year-end Oscar contenders to be a depressing and violent lot. I have to say the Coen Brothers latest is the first film from them that I probably would have preferred not seeing. Perhaps I just don't get Cormac McCarthy.

The most recent film I saw has been the bright exception to my moviegoing malaise--"The Darjeeling Express." I really wasn't expecting much, but I found myself enjoying this film as much as I did that sleeper from a few years ago--"Sideways." It's basically sloppy and unbuttoned (as is life), and takes its cast on a journey of self discovery through the more picturesque parts of India carefully avoiding the grim scenes of abject poverty Malle showcased in "Phantom India." The three brothers on this quest are physically attractive but quite obnoxious in many ways, but, as in "Sideways," the filmmakers pull off the considerable triumph of making you care for them.

It probably won't get any nominations and most certainly won't win any statues, but it's one film I'm looking forward to seeing again.

Stardust ...quite entertaining, interesting effects, and it's never hard to watch Clare Danes and Michelle Pfieffer (sorry Michelle, if I misspelled your name)

My husband and I are still working on the AFI's top 100 movies. Even though we had previously watched them, we finished Ben Hur last night and Casablanca this afternoon.

We just got Casablanca from Netflix. I've never seen it before, how was it?

If I may put in my two cents--Casablanca is probably the most entertaining bad movie Hollywood ever made. The original stage play, "Everyone Comes to Rick's" was a bomb; half the Warners' writing staff toiled over the screenplay, and had a low opinion of it (I met one of them, Julius Epstein just before he died and he was still amazed at the film's status), and Ingrid Bergman thought it was just fluff. Many of the lines are downright ludicrous, (albeit funny, nonetheless), and the situation itself is incomprehensible (letters of transit? signed by de Gaulle so they can't be revoked or questioned? The Gestapo and SS are going to honor letters signed by a Frenchman living in exile in England who has NO official status?).

All that aside, the acting is old Hollywood at its best, and the musical score (one of the key elements in making the movie work) is superb. The love triangle is one of the best depictions of romantic love gone sour, then finally redeemed, ever put on film, and I think this is where the greatness lies--although Claude Rains nearly steals the whole show, which was usual for him.

Morphy - For the most part I agree with Django. I enjoyed watching it again because it had been a long time since I had seen it. I hope you enjoy the movie!

a blast from the past -- Close Encounters of the Third Kind! One I probably saw 10 times in the theater, and still think about every time we have mashed potatoes...

#44 A classic. It's one of those movies that no matter how many times I've seen it, I watch it every time it comes on. It just draws me to it. Hmmmmmmmm

Last night I watched The Truman Show. Jim Carrey is one of my favorite actors. he does go over the top sometime but this is one of the best movies he's done. I hated the ending though. Would have liked to see more of him in the real world.

I hope to re-watch Namesake this weekend with my husband, who hasn't seen it yet. I loved it. I can't believe I haven't read the book, although I have read and loved her short stories.

#44 - TeacherDad - that was a great movie - when they re-released it with a different ending. If I'm remembering correctly that is. I remember seeing it when it first came out and felt totally confused when I left. They re-released it a few years later and either extended the movie to include a new ending or changed the ending completely. Am I totally off on that? Does anyone else remember that or is my 40-something mind starting to go? :p

I still remember the 5 notes! :)

The ending was extended to show more of the aliens, and Dreyfuss getting to go away on the ship, plus I think there were other tweaks throughout the film...

"40-something" does not equal "mind starting to go" !!! (unless you ask my kids, but I claim it's all their fault)

I worked on CE3K:Special Edition, and your memory is accurate. Dreyfuss' character got into the mother ship and we saw, courtesy of visual effects, what was inside. Some of the character's obsession with the Devil's Postpile image is downplayed and there are some other character development scenes. The discovery of a large ship high and dry in the Gobi Desert is another VFX.

The scenes showing the Mother Ship interior were mercifully deleted from the much later Director's Cut version.

Thank you for clearing that up. Sometimes I can remember things so vividly and yet no else does so then I start to doubt myself. :)

I just remember that the movie made more sense to me when I saw the extended version. Perhaps it was just that I was a little older by then and that was the reason.

I think they just aired it last night. I should have watched it again.

We saw The Greatest Game Ever Played, our Netflix movie. We really liked it. Another good underdog movie.

We watched The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy this weekend. Very exciting and I had to occasionally pause to catch my breath!

I don't normally go for the "shoot em up cop flicks," but last night I watched the Departed. Wow. From half way on it was pure shock factor. I'm not a big Decaprio fan either but this was excellent.

Departed -- one of those rare movies where you hear and feel the entire audience gasp in stunned shock... last movie before that where I gripped the armrests so hard was Platoon

I've watched two in the last two weeks: A Wrinkle in Time (based on the book by Madeleine L'Engle) and The Island. Enjoyed both of them very much.

Just watched The Bourne Ultimatum last night. Very enjoyable (and exhausting!) end to the trilogy.

We watched High Crimes (Morgan Freeman, Ashley Judd). It started off really good and then it just fizzled. It was a let down.

Saw a great movie last night--the newly restored Things to Come (1936). I'd seen the movie many times in 50s and 60s, but in the 90 minute version that circulated on TV and the revival circuit back then. It was a treat to see the almost 2 hour version as it looked in its original release. The view of the "distant" future--2036--is still pretty farfetched in many ways (the first astronauts in their Greek chitons on the way to the moon), but in its prediction of a new World War with London blitz-bombed, and the gradual descent of mankind into tribalism and a new age of barbarism arising out of fear and a willingness to give up personal freedoms in exchange for the "security" promised by an autocratic government, the movie remains uncannily prophetic.

I saw Cloverfield this weekend, I got a bit of a Lovecraft vibe from it. Chutulu visits New York City.

I love those old movies, although we lean more towards the 1950's monster flicks... my boys always want to see things like Cloverfield, and I get them The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms instead... still have to deal with a bad dream once in awhile, but I figger it's good for them...

We were both sick this weekend so we spent lots of time watching movies: The Wild, Ladder 49, Miracle, Rudy, The Longest Yard...I think I'm forgetting something. They were all entertaining although I must admit to letting quite a few tears fall during Ladder 49. Yeeesh!

I just watched 'The Grudge 2' - not a re-make, the original Japanese version...scared the whassit out of me at times. Those noises in surround sound just made my skin crawl - I loved it! :o)

A lot of you are talking about I Am Legend. I haven't seen it yet as we rarely get to the pictures these days, but I read the book when I was a kid (yup, always been a horror fan) & seem to remember it making me quite obssessive about looking after my teeth. I haven't re-read since then so I'm not sure if this is my (admittedly bizarre) imagination or not??

I just watched Casablanca for the first time. Very enjoyable.

The last movie in the theatre I saw was Atonement, I thought it was very faithful to the book. I can't even remember the last full movie I've seen on TV or DVD, though I did see parts of 300 on DVD last night, but not the whole thing.

We just watched The Machinist (sp) with Christian Bale. Oh my!! The entire movie is worth the last 20 minutes or so.

You all are making me want to spend more time watching movies! We did watch The Aviator over the weekend with Leonardo DiCaprio as Howard Hughes.

But aside from that, we fit in a Mystery Science Theater 3000 once every couple of weeks from our collection. (can you say geeks? LOL!)

we haven't watched a movie in a few weeks, been catching up on last season's LOST while trying to not mix up what we've seen of this season's... I'm so confuuuuused...

TeacherDad I am so addicted to Lost! We're just starting Series 4 in the UK, not sure where the rest of the world is up to? I'm sure I'm missing loads of hints, red herrings, clues etc but I just (have to!) take it at face value - I love how bizarre it is. It must be fabulous to write for because you can make the rules up as you go along, kill people off, bring them back, jump forward, jump back...

I just watched the 1993 version of The Secret Garden and although I enjoyed the movie, I was completely baffled by the changes made to the story and why they were done. I can't see where it made any difference so why do it? They had her parents die in an earthquake in India as opposed to an outbreak of cholera. They had her discover the key to the garden in her aunt's jewelry box instead of partially buried in one of the other gardens. They had her mother be the twin sister to Colin's mother - instead it was her father and Colin's mother that were siblings. I just don't get the need for the changes. scratches head

That's funny. NPR had a story tonight about The Secret Garden and, having only seen that movie, thought that having her parents die in an earthquake as a Cholera epidemic would have been too gruesome for a kids movie.

I duuno, being in SoCal and feeling the earth shake quite often, I'm not sure which fate I would choose...

The last movie I saw in the theater was Michael Clayton a couple of weeks back. It's an excellent thriller that is now on DVD. In fact, I liked it so much that I bought the DVD and have watched it a second time. The last film I watched on DVD was a Hungarian film called Kontroll that takes place entirely in the subway system. It's a strange film, but I highly recommend it.

Windtalkers was on TV last weekend.

So, with much grumbling from me - we watched it (it's her tv)

To be honest I was impressed. It was violent, loud, dramatic with a pretty good story and a wicked cast. I ended up shedding a couple of tears at the end, something I'm not prone to do being the hard person that I am, but that proves to me, at least, that it was worth watching.

We watched a classic from the 70's over the weekend - Silver Streak.

We rented Beowulf from Blockbuster yesterday. I must say I was underwhelmed.

Dreamgirls - I am totally amazed at the singing abilities of everyone involved. Wow!

I recently saw "I am Legend", a remake of that 1971 classic "The Omega Man" which is based on I am Legend. Did I get that right?

Last night I saw "Michael Clayton". It was excellent!

I haven't seen Beowulf yet, but I don't think the original author had Angelina Jolie in mind, as Grendel's mom.

saw The Invasion last night with Nicole Kidman... well, I saw it with The Wife, but Nicole Kidman was in the movie... pretty good, not a disappointment...

I saw (hubby was annoyed within the first 5 minutes so he left the room) Because I Said So and I have to say, Diane Keaton was too much! And everyone talked over each other and the high pitched whining! Uggg! I'm so glad my mom is not like Keaton's character. She was unbelievably annoying!

My wife Kay and I went to see Juno- a really sweet (but not saccharine) film - both of us loved it. I've still got the closing song, "Anyone Else But You", running around in my head.

I just saw Juno as well. It was a lovely movie. The soundtrack was great.

I also The Other Boleyn Girl. I have to say, I liked the book better.

We watched The Madness of King George - excellent movie. The acting, especially by Nigel Hawthorne, was outstanding!

I just saw "Into the Wild" and I think it did the book justice.

Maybe I'm just too old to be commenting in this group, but didn't it bother anyone but me that all the characters in Juno had pretty much the same voice? (The smart-assed voice of the author.) Were this not such a bleak and dismal movie year, I can't believe that this would have ever been nominated.

I bought Cold Comfort Farm on DVD after having read the book. My hubby and I sat down and watched it the other night and enjoyed it very much.

Last night I watched Timeline. It's a time travel flick with more than a few similarities to the Outlander book series I'm obsessed with.
The movie was ok..just ok.

Just finished Indy and the Last Crusade. For some bizarre reason, USA Network is showing the the three movies in reverse order...

#100, I think the best thing about Timeline is GB, and the fact he could really be a Roger in it, same dark looks. I agree, just a so-so movie.

#101, my DH & I watch Raiders of the Lost Ark on USA Saturday night. A fun movie & still exciting after all these years.

We watched "No Country for Old Men" Friday night. The Coen Brothers succeeded in putting another quirky film on the screen. Interesting & thought provoking material. Great cinematography.

The last movie I watched was Untraceable. Ack! I hated it. I am a fan of Criminal Minds but this is a torture flick.

Hubby wants to watch No Country for Old Men but I will probably stall on that one for a while. After Untraceable, I am not up for anymore brutality.

My boys saw Iron Man and loved it but the rest of us will probably wait for the DVD and I have been eagerly anticipating National Treasure 2.

Wanted something mindless but not insipid this weekend, so we went for Iron Man. I really enjoyed it. If you like Robert Downey, Jr. then this is a great summer flick.

Finally saw Juno a few days ago - a very sweet movie.

We went to see Prince Caspian on Sunday and enjoyed it, despite the departures from C.S. Lewis's book.

I've been attending the Seattle International Film Festival over the past 3 weeks and I have seen quite a few great movies but I don't know how many of them will get a commercial run. If you can, see:

"The Wrecking Crew" about 1960 session musicians in LA

"Late Bloomers" a swiss movie about a group of women friends, of a certain age, not behaving the way their family and neighbors expect them too.

"Captain Abu Read" filmed in Jordan. About an airport janitor that the neighborhood children think is a pilot. He starts entertaining them with stories about his travels and ends up involved in their lives.

106 - Coppers, I watched "Juno" on Friday night. You're right, it was quite sweet. I liked it far better than I thought I would.

We watched "Charlie Wilson's War" Thursday night. It was unexpectedly funny. Quite didactic, too. Our country has been reaping the harvest from our government's decision to not help build schools after the Soviets were run out of Afghanistan. Imagine how many schools could have been started with the one million dollars that Wilson asked for in the late 80's. We left a vacuum in that country - what a stupid decision.

I watched Bee Movie today with my nephew. It was cute!

I really want to go see The Happening, but I can't find anyone to go with me! I may just have to go by myself!

Saw "The Other Bolyne Girl" last night... not bad, entertaining and interesting...

We began watching "Atonement" last night but were unable to get into the film. A bit slow-going to keep my attention after a full day of working & parenting.

Monday night we saw "In the Valley of Elah." Excellent film!

I watched "There Will Be Blood" on Saturday night. I wasn't impressed by the film.

Saw My Cousin Vinnie again last night. Laughed more than the first time I saw it, I think. Marissa Tomei was the best of the bunch, and that's pretty impressive given the cast list.

We just went to see "Mongol" on Sunday. It's a foreign film, historical fiction about Ghengis Khan. It was fantastic! It's the first in a trilogy about Ghengis Khan and starts from when he was a boy to the time when he was just consolidating his power. It was beautifully shot, the acting was superb, and the story was fascinating.

saw "Be Kind Rewind" last night... and I'm still not sure what I think about it...

Batman Begins to get ready for The Dark Knight. The son and I are getting pretty pumped up for it...The trailers are freakin' awesome!

We saw "The Incredible Hulk" yesterday. Liked it much, much better than the one released a couple years back. We enjoyed it but it didn't outdo "Ironman" in our opinion.

We're also looking forward to "The Dark Knight". Looks good!

After seeing a few turkeys at the theater ('There Will be Blood', "Knocked Up'), I stopped going, choosing to Netflix at home. I just watched a Werner Herzog docu -'The White Diamond'. Herzog is crazy and brilliant. Watch this, 'Grizzly Man', and 'Rescue Dawn'.

Enjoyed watching Kung Fu Panda last night. Some of the most beautiful animated backgrounds that I have seen.

#116 Teacherdad - We watched Be Kind Rewind a few weeks ago. My 15 yr old son really enjoyed it but I'm still not sure if I liked it or not...a little on the odd side to say the least!

Saw Wall-E yesterday. It was very good and very different - a thoughtful cartoon with some laugh out loud moments.

I saw The Other Boleyn Girl the other night - awful! I couldn't believe how bad it was! What a disappointment compared to the book! The whole thing was so rushed!

My DD & I went to see the Kit Kittredge: An American Girl yesterday afternoon. It was an interesting look at depression-era Cincinnati, Ohio. I'm so glad I brought a tissue because my eyes certainly welled up a few times. Thumbs up!

Today, summer camp went to see Hancock. It was ok. I did laugh out loud a few times and the kids of course thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Don't know if I'd see it again though.

I watched The Others on my laptop courtesy of Netflix. I love that movie.

Since we just moved over the weekend and haven't had Dish Network hooked up yet, we have nothing but Netflix to watch. So, we had a chance to watch "Oceans Twelve" again. I had to rent it again because we needed to give it another chance. We enjoyed Eleven so much and we felt we missed something in Twelve that was important and why we didn't like it. We did notice the part we must have missed the time before so it did make more sense. However, despite similar humor to the first one, it wasn't quite as good. We did like it though. Thirteeen is on the queue as well but when you have 200 on the list, it will take awhile. ;)

We thought about seeing "Hancock" this past weekend but after hearing the reviews, that will no doubt be a future Netflix rental.

Funny, I just watched Oceans 11 and 12 on the laptop while making a bracelet for my mom. 11 is better. 13 is ok. Caught it on HBO a while back.

Later husband & I watched The Blues Brothers. It just never gets old.

#128 Georgia - I love that movie too! My husband and I saw it in the theatre when it first came out. We got shut out of seeing another movie because it was sold out so we decided to see this since it was just starting in the same theatre. We knew nothing about it or what it was about and we absolutely roared! We loved it! Loved them all in it - it was so funny, loved Alan Rickman's deadpan delivery throughout and the one who was "supposed to get killed" (forget his name now) - so funny how they kept on referring him that way!

That would be Guy Fleegman - "I'm not even supposed to be here. I'm just "Crewman Number Six." I'm expendable. I'm the guy in the episode who dies to prove how serious the situation is. I've gotta get outta here. "

We recently joined netflix so we're probably going to be seeing a lot more movies (and not buying nearly as many). My 9 year old picked Eight Legged Freaks which we watched last night and was pretty entertaining. More funny than scary.

Before that we saw Get Smart in the theater which was actually better than I thought it would be. The one thing that bothered me thought is the several times that Max said "Missed it by that much" he never held his fingers up.

I just purchased a book yesterday called The Stewardess Is Flying The Plane which I devoured quickly.. it made me want to watch something iconically 70's immediately! So I watched "Silent Runnings" tonight online through Netflix. I had heard about it for years and had never seen it. I thought it was quite good, even if it was also quite dated.

Into the Wild was a better book than movie, but the movie captured the theme fairly well. In the book, I particularly liked the chapter about a bunch of older, perhaps more delusional individual guys who met their end in various parts of the wilderness. Weird stuff.

GD, I too, loved "Galaxy Quest"! 'A great spoof.

Last night I saw "Hellboy II." The scene where "Red", is drunk on multiple 6-packs of Tecate and singing Barry Manilow, was alone worth the price of admission.

We just watched "Night at the Museum" - what a fun movie! And so nice to see Dick van Dyke and Mickey Rooney again. :)

I took my son to see Journey to the Center of the Earth which was only mildly entertaining. We also saw Meet Dave which was very much exceeded my expectations.

The Gravedancers - a low-budget and equally low-talent horror movie that was good for some laughs on a Sunday night.

I just saw "Mamma Mia!" - absolutely loved it! My husband was such a good sport and went to see it with me - he liked it too! I have to give the entire cast a lot of credit for singing their own songs (poor Pierce Brosnan - but a valiant effort!) Such fun - had to buy the CD on the way home to sing along with in the car - great time!

I know I have the title wrong, but "Jesse James and the Cowardly Robert Cole" -- beautiful scenery, beautifully filmed, a little long, but worth it...

Over the weekend we watched Zodiac and while interesting and had some good performances, it was too long by far and the lack of pay off really just ruined it for me. Granted I knew that there would be no pay off, but was somehow hoping the rest of the movie would make up for it. Nope.

Also watched You Kill Me with Ben Kingsley, Dennis Farina, Tea Leone and Luke Owen. Hilarious. Kingsley is awesome.

I watched the Spiderwick Chronicles and thought it was wonderful!

We tried to watch The Aviator over the weekend and had to take it out. It was just too boring and weird. The opening scene was just plain creepy. Eeeeew!

We then watched Secondhand Lions and we liked that so much better.

We'll probably go see The Dark Knight after the crowds thin out some.

My husband actually suggested this movie on Saturday! We both loved it and also gave Pierce Brosnan credit for a valiant effort. We just pretended (like everyone else) that the the main actors were not too old for the parts. If the girl was 20 and her Mom had her when she was 20....???

We watch that movie(Galaxy Quest) when ever we see it listed on TV. Being Star Trek and Star Wars fans we get all the jokes.

We just finished watching Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. This was my first movie in a theater in a very long time. I thoroughly enjoyed it! I thought it was totally set up to create a "nostalgic yearning" for the 1st three movies which appealled to my husband and I. But it also drew the kids in too, and possibly set up scenarios for future movies. Laughed, cried, screamed at the bugs and snakes - what could be better? :-)

I heard that no 40 year old actress in Hollywood would play the mother of a 20 year old girl. Did not want to seem so old.

We watched Galaxy Quest again a few nights ago - that's one I can watch repeatedly and still enjoy. "Ducts? Why is it always ducts?"

The Dark Knight was the best movie I've seen in the theater for a long time (and we go fairly often). Dark and intense.

Watched Talk to Me starring Don Cheadle as 70s radio personality Petey Green. Pretty good flick.

Never been a huge fan of the Batman movies but I can sum up the Dark Knight in one word; AWESOME! It totally blew me away. It was an action packed movie and as sad as it is to say...Heath Ledger did an incredible job. He nailed it.

I don't get to the movies very often but I did get to see Dark Knight this past week. There has been talk of an Oscar nomination for Ledger and he so deserves it. I've always thought of him as the cute guy from 10 Things I Hate About You - I had no idea he was so talented.

I'm watching The Full Monty right now. I can watch it over and over. What a great movie!

Last night watched Slow Burn w/Ray Liotta. Not bad. Nothing to get excited about. Liotta looks better than he has in a long time though.

The Life Before Her Eyes with Uma Thurman and Evan Rachel Wood. Very interesting. Can't describe anything about it without possibly spoiling it, it's worth the rental fee.

Speaking of Uma Thurman...we watched Pulp Fiction for the 20th time or so last weekend. Husband & I can practically quote the whole thing. It never gets old.

Totally agree with you Bookmarque on Pulp Fiction. I always seem to find something I missed when I watch it again. You might want to check out the movie I spoke of in my post #154. It's almost a pulp fiction kind of genre (if in fact PF is in it's own genre) sort of flashing back and forth to different time frames within the lives of the characters. That's all I can say without giving away too much. Check it out

Watched Lake Tahoe last night. Weirdest camera positions I have seen in ages. Interesting film though.

I saw Fireproof last night. Good message. Some of the amateurs performed their roles quite well.

Rocknrolla. Can never quite make out what the fuss is about him. It's an ok film but methinks he is trying too hard.

Let's see...I think it was Fierce People with Donald Sutherland. Started out as one thing and then took a violent turn and became something else. Good, but not what I expected.

I watched "Charlie Wilson's War" on DVD, it was alright but nothing great. Last theather movie was "Dark Knight" which was great, mostly because of Heath Ledger.

In Bruges on DVD. Very good, although maybe not for everybody.

A friend of mine was talking about In Bruges the other day and said while it wasn't what she & her friends had in mind (they love the city), she liked it and thought I would, too. Thanks for reminding me to put it on the Netflix list.

High School Musical 3 with my six year old!

The Winslow Boy, by David Mamet, with Jeremy Northam as a smooth as silk (or is it slimy?) barrister and MP trying to win back the honour of a 14-year-old boy accused of stealing a postal order. He takes on the Admiralty and finally wins over the House of Commons to allow the family to sue the Government for redress. I read the play when I was 14, with my 4 years of English, and didn't get it at all --the film was a revelation, the story is about everyone in the family *but* the boy.

"Easy to do Justice. Very hard to do Right."

Saw that years ago...can't remember much detail but I like Mamet's work so I probably liked it, too. Recently had a bit of a Mamet fest and watched The Spanish Prisoner, The Heist and House of Games quite close together.

Next week there'll be a play by Mamet at our local theatre ("Oleanna"). I'll so be there! :-)

Just saw Burn after reading, the latest by the Coen brothers. Excellent movie and a lot of fun. Not as good as Fargo, but still very good.

Watched Zac and Miri Make a Porno last night. It was funny but I was a bit put off by the ending.

Watched Hot Fuzz on OnDemand last night. Laugh out loud funny (but not quite as fun as Shaun of the Dead).

A Room with a View, 2004 version -- one of many recommendations from the instructor of the beginning Italian class I'm taking, just to get a feel for how Italy transforms the characters.

Psssst... "Pride & Prejudice" (1995) over two evenings. :-) It never gets old. Well, it does show its age a bit, compared to newer period drama like "North & South", but still a great story.

Got The Golden Compass by mistake from Netflix and so we watched it. Cute, but kind of boring. Also watched Michael Clayton over the weekend. I fell asleep in the middle, but woke up again for the end.

ohhh, I love Pride & Prejudice! That's one I can watch again and again. I work my way up through history with Pride & Prejudice, Little Women, Out of Africa, Under the Tuscan Sun, and lastly, my new modern favorite, Holiday.

My husband and I watched Sweeney Todd last night. Personally, I would happily watch Johnny Depp or Alan Rickman read the dictionary, but I didn't enjoy the movie. Maybe it was my mood, but I was thought the violence was "over the top". I don't know where my tolerance line for violence actually is, because I watched the Sopranos, and Deadwood, and I enjoy some horror books, but wherever that line is, Sweeney Todd was over it.

"Solaris" (2002, d. Steven Soderbergh) with a crowd. We tried it the week before but gave up after a minute --a 50cm TV screen just doesn't work. So 10 of us assembled at another friend's place this week and he fired up the video projector to give us a 3x1 metre projection. Great visuals. If you have read the Lem novel: Forget about finding too much of it in this film, this one relies on images, music and only little on the spoken word. But still a great story and a visual experience. Right after the credits rolled, the discussion started :-).

Tried to watch a German film called The Wedding Party, but it was too stupid. I gave up. I think the spouse finished it, but didn't ask.

#180 - We watched Sweeney Todd Saturday night for the first time. I liked it, but the wife covered her eyes for the gory parts. It was a bit much for her, and I doubt we watch it again very often. Well, I doubt she *ever* watches it again...

Oh and tried to watch Sweeney Todd too, but couldn't get past the first verse. Sad to miss out on gore though. Us & musicals do not get along. The one exception being Rocky Horror.

Never thought I could 'not like' Liam Neeson. (Not just that his character was a horrible man, but that he, the actor, gave him no personality). Knightly was good, as usual. This was good, but not great. I always expect too much with historical movies like this. Glad I waited for the cheap theater ($3). I would recommend as a Netflix pic if you haven't seen it yet.

On another note, I can't wait to see 'Australia'!

We watched The Davinci Code. Enjoyable but nothing terribly exciting.

I heard about it, too. It will REALLY be the Rocky HORROR Picture Show then. Someone also decided that remaking Highlander was a good idea, too. Friggin-A. Can't anyone come up with their own ideas these days??

Finally went to see Quantum of Solace (the latest Bond). A bit of a collection of scenes instead of 1 movie, but I liked the raw darker Bond. A nice issue in the collection.

Gave up on Bond with Daniel Craig. Couldn't get through the last one, won't be bothering any more. A collection of scenes is a good way to describe it. No cohesion at all.

Now that I think of it, the last few Brosnan Bonds sucked as well. I think Goldeneye is the last decent Bond film.

My husband bought Kung Fu Panda Saturday and we had family movie night. I really enjoyed both the family night and the movie.

It's rare that an adult can watch a children's movie without feeling intense pain. I took my oldest daughter to see Kung Fu Panda and was surprised at how painless it was. I was lucky, my wife had to go see High School Musical 3.

I probably will not get out of seeing HSM3 - I have 2 teenage daughters who think Zac Ephron is to die for!

Got Stardust this weekend from Netflix, watched it several times. It's pretty good!

Sense and Sensibility from Netflix.
Surprisingly, my son actually enjoyed it for awhile. Then there were too many suitors involved, and he gave up--too confusing!
We will be watching the third Indiana Jones this Saturday (his request).

I just returned from the cinema. I haven't laughed so much and so hard watching a film in a decade! (at least). Everyone was howling, positively!

If you get the chance to see Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis, DO! Even dubbed in German, it was absolutely hilarious (AFAIK there's also a version with good subtitles in English). Not slapstick-funny, but playing with preconceived notions southern French have about northern French (and I am living close to the border to Denmark, so we get some of these from *our* southern brethren, as well). The film was a *huge* success in France this spring, coming in behind Titanic in terms of number of viewers (and that record is 10 years old).

So, I am finking of zeeing it a zecond time (oh, sorry, still thinking in ch'ti dialect), just to see Postie Philippe travel north to start his new job at the post office of Bergues and getting to know the Ch'tis!

I have also just seen a very funny French film this weekend called "OSS 117; Cairo, Nest of spies" which is based on a book written before Ian Fleming did his Bond series. It is about a French spy who gets himself into politically incorrect situations. Very stylish and very funny. One of the best films I have seen in ages.

@Edoc: that movie must have a very good script writer, cause the books are horrible.

I am a volunteer at the International Documentary Festival Amsterdam, where 500 documentaries are presented from all over the world. As a volunteer, I am able to watch any film.
I just saw Thread by Laurie Chok. A very good film about Afghan women trying to start a business from home with knitting and embroidery. Some of them go to New York (after their male relatives agreed), to learn quality standards and what US shops can sell.
After that, a very short film about Herero dresses. These are historical costumes that women of the Herero tribe in Namibia wear on special occasions. Short, but very informative. Definitely Discovery material

Re 204 I can't see it working as a book. Too many visual gags.

Run Fatboy Run - funny and, surprisingly, sweet.

Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, Johnny Depp version. My son requested this rental after watching his best friend play Charlie in a local production.

Surprisingly, I enjoyed it. I love Gene Wilder as Wonka, but this was very quirky in a completely different way. However, the Oompa-Loompa songs were bizarre, waaay too bizarre. Cut those out, and we got a kick out of this one.

The Oompa Loompas are on the same par with the Flying Monkeys from The Wizard of Oz! Horrors!! I'm still scared of them!

Stardust...fantasy film w/Michelle Pfeiffer, Claire Danes & Robert Deniro. Meh. Was bland. The Potters & LOTR films have set the bar very, very high.

'Once' on DVD from Netflix. Totally beautiful and intimate story of music, love and loss.

#215 The monkeys have never bothered me, but these new Oompa Loompas are creepy! The music was so strange I couldn't even understand half the lyrics. I much prefer the orange-faced ones from the original. However, we dearly enjoyed watching Veruca go down the chute.

No movie this week--put up the Christmas tree. Will probably force the kid to watch "It's a Wonderful Life" again.

Over the weekend I watched two amazing movies. On Saturday I watched the Illusionist (as well as Ravens football!) and on Sunday I watched the Piano. Both beautifully moving films. My pic of the two would have to be the Piano.

Speaking of flying monkeys, we watched TWOZ last night, followed by the Alistair Sim version of A Christmas Carol. Oh how I love old Eb in that one.

"Proof of Life" (2000). Saw it for the third time, I think, and I still cannot figure out why this film falls a bit short. It is still a good film about the Kidnap and Ransom business, and actually makes long stretches of talking and negotiating on the two-way radio interesting, but I think it doesn't know what plot thread to concentrate on. Still, enjoyable and worth watching more than once. And with Russell Crowe and David Morse, you cannot go wrong, really.

Saw The Changeling with Angelina Jolie as a mother whose child went missing and the corrupt police insisted a random child they found was her missing son.
A magnificent Clint Eastwood film with at least 1 Oscar candidate (Jolie) and based on a true story.

Oh yeah...the I must stand on my head bit is hilarious. Poor Mrs. Dilber...sent her shrieking with her apron over her head for protection. Next up will be the George C. Scott version which while a bit more in tune with the book, is not quite as much fun. Still, I like Scott's delivery of the speech about garments.

Heartily concur with Alistair Sim being the best Scrooge ever! And isn't it fun to see a young Patrick Macnee long before he became an Avenger.

Saw Slumdog Millionaire Tuesday. WOW!

Saw episodes 3 and 4 of "The Tudors" (Season 2) yesterday. The rest of it wasn't really my cup of tea for various reasons, but the plot thread around Sir Thomas More and his differences with King Henry and his new church had me glued to the screen. I have come to really appreciate Jeremy Northam, and he "did it again".

Re: A Christmas Carol. I wanted to tape the Patrick Stewart version on Christmas day, but they forgot to send the VPS signal, so the recording never started...- oh, well, next year... (I will see this, eventually!).

Eh, it's ok. I really wanted to like it since Patrick Stewart is usually so great and I have an audiobook of him reading A Christmas Carol that is wonderful. I hear his one man show is, too, but somehow this production lacked spark and flavor. I think it was too faithful to the book and in doing so not only missed the 'it factor' of the book, but failed to provide one of its own. We watched it twice, but won't buy it. I guess we'll stick with the Alistair Sim and George C. Scott versions until someone does another one as great.

I saw Twilight tonight with a couple of girlfriends. None of us had read the books but we still enjoyed it. It probably helped that we were at a theater that is >21 1morechapter: only and serves alcoholic drinks and popcorn with white cheddar and other adult oriented treats.

Saw the Curious Case of Benjamin Button last week in the theater. It was a wonderful and amazing movie. Last night I saw Marley and Me with a few girlfriends. Enjoyed that also, being the dog lover that I am.

My daughter & I went to see High School Musical 3 with one of her friends & the friend's mom. It was fun & sweet. Great dancing & thankfully, clean!

We saw Valkyrie today, since the schools closed due to cold. I've been itching to see a non-animated, non-comedy, non-superhero movie for awhile. I thought (correctly) this would fit the bill for both me and the kid. Much better than I expected, and I've never been a Tom Cruise fan, but he was really good in this one. Excellent cinematography, and I even got caught up in the suspense, despite knowing the real history.

#234 I might be inclined to agree but if your son enjoyed Valkyrie then he sounds like a very wise young teen ager and I'm sure that he would also enjoy Benjamin Button. The narration in the movie does a good job in explaining early on, that the infant was born looking like an old man. Although It might be a bit long in the "romantic" department, and they do spend a bit of time targeting into Benjamins sex life (or lack there of). My 8 year old Neice just saw Hotel for Dogs and just loved it. I'm a big dog lover so she said she'd be willing to see it again to go with me, bless her little heart LOL

There Will Be Blood. Good story. Strange presentation. It seemed off kilter to me. Skewed somehow. And it was no big shock that the kid wasn't really his. I said something to that effect to my husband 1/2 hour in. The locations and intensity were admirable.

This isn't a movie, but is anyone else excited that LOST is back tonight???

Saw Gran Torino over the weekend. Good movie.

I saw Gran Torino a few weeks ago too. (I hadn't been to a movie theater in 5 years!) I thought it was a really good movie.

This week: The curious case of Benjamin Button. A lot, but not entirely like Forest Gump, however 2 hours well spent.

Saw Revolutionary Road Friday night and thought it was brilliant. Makes you unterstand what people mean when they talk about the oppressive 1950s. Well worth my time and money. If it stays in cinemas a little longer I might even go and see it again.

"Australia" a few days ago. Loved it. They weren't taking themselves too seriously and threw every imaginable Aussie stereotype at the viewer in the first 45 min of Culture Clash. Great fun. "Now that we've got that out of the way..." there was a sweet story of friendship, and even a bit of Magic Realism. I didn't care too much for the love story, but all in all it was totally worth the 2 3/4 hours and 6€.

I saw the International with my kids last weekend. They liked it, and it was well done, and Clive Owen is fun to watch. My younger son (16) confessed that he is less than thrilled by morally neutral endings, which seem to be more and more common these days, and he said "I prefer movies like that old black and white one that comes on at Christmas". :)

Just finished watching The Bank Job on DVD. Excellent movie - much better than I was expecting!

I saw him yesterday on DVD in Gosford Park. What a brilliant, brilliant film (and it seems they cast all the top UK actors they could lay their hands on). An Upstairs/Downstairs film from the perspective of the Downstairs people. Bought the soundtrack, too (Patrick Doyle, with some fantastic classics by Ivor Novello, whose name I had never heard before, sung by Jeremy Northam).

Rented "The Man Who Knew Too Much." Love Jimmy Stewart, and it's one of my favorite Hitchcock films. My son even said it was "pretty good." He has finally cottoned on that I'm a Jimmy Stewart fan--"I think I've seen that man in something else." Umm, yep.

Rented on DVD The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. One word Wow... You must watch the bonus material also. The documentary about the movie is very insightful. Totally recommend it.

Yesterday, watched "Slumdog Millionaire". An excellent original story.

I wasn't going to watch it...but, I did. I rented Twilight. It was ok, but for me, it did not live up to the hype that surrounded it. I may break down and read the books.

Rented The Girl with the Pearl Earring. It was okay....but not great.

new movie = In Bruges. Black comedy. Violent. Hilarious. Well acted. Interesting plot. Highly recommended. Not for squeamish or those who are so bound up by PCness that they cannot enjoy a joke.

old fave = Heat. It just never gets old. Michael Mann does a great job framing the stories and bringing them together. Even though Pacino and Deniro only have 1 scene together, they are riveting separately. I really should get this on Blu-ray.

Coming up = maybe today I'll watch a documentary about Joe Strummer. Shocked when he died and still miss him.

Books are almost always better. Oh and never see a book based movie before reading it. :)

Just saw a copy of "Australia" and the filmography is worthy of buying a blue tooth copy at some stage. Very enjoyable. Wild west meets WWII Top End Aus.
Quite enjoyed the parallels with the Wizard of Oz and I'll be humming "Over the rainbow" for a wee while now ;-)

I watched "Ironman" over the weekend and was very pleasantly surprised. Downey did a great job!

Recently saw "Get Smart" on Demand - funnier than I thought it would be, and we laughed a lot. Especially funny if you remember the old show!

Last in a theatre was "I Am Legend" (I think). Been a while. Next will be the new Star Trek film with the younger characters from the past. As a 40-something, I grew up on Star Trek reruns. My wife and I are looking forward to a blast from the past. Shall see if it lives up to expectations. Looks like it has potential.

Recently saw a copy of Twelve Monkeys. I thought it was quite good for a time travelling post-apocalyptic film. Despite having Bruce Willis in it. It is one of Brad Pitts earlier movies pre-super star and I think it shows that he isnt just a pretty face, or maybe it's not his face that most of us girls look at.
After the movie I realised it was timely to watch, considering the current hype about swine flu. Watched it with the teenage children and now they are washing their hand more regularly. tee hee.

I saw Marley and Me. It was great. I loved it. Also, Bride Wars was very funny.

The last 2 movies I saw were 'The Notebook' and 'Madagascar' from rental DVDs. They are old movies, but old movies are still very new to me since I'm always a bit behind the times. Ever since we had our kids, my husband and I don't get the time and opportunity to watch movies on a regular basis anymore. So, anytime, we are able to squeeze in time for one, it's a nice treat.

On my way out this eve to watch the new Star Trek movie. I was more of a "Next Generation" girl, but I am still excited.

I saw the Star Trek movie last weekend and loved it. I was always an original series fan, and this was great - I loved all the inside jokes, and the casting of this was amazing, so like the original cast, yet they all had their "own" ness to their roles - I can't wait to see it again!

Just watched The Descent. VASTLY different from the book, but enjoyably tense and gruesome.

the last movie I watched was 3000 Miles to Graceland with Kurt Russell, Kevin Costner, Courtney Cox and a bunch of other people. While it was overlong and could have been edited down, it was fun because I think the people making it were having fun. And who doesn't like Elvis?

I am with you on that, my son and I rented the Mist. My son is only 10 and I should not have let him watch it. Knowing Stephen King and his writing, I should have known better. His being so demented and twisted is what makes him such a good author, otherwise how would he think of the things he does?

In a theatre? That's difficult, as I seldom go anymore. Strange, that, as I was a projectionist at one time. I believe I saw Ben Hur about 10 times.

Anyway ... it might have been Titanic. Attended only because friends from Alaska were eager to see it.

On the other hand, I have hundreds of DVD's, and video tapes, though a film has to be fairly worthwhile to make me watch it again.

Just watched London Boulevard because it was based on the Ken Bruen novel. I've not read that one (yet!) but I have read a couple of others by the author and thought they were excellent. The film is a fairly decent gangster movie with an excellent cast. Colin Farrell does restrained menace pretty well and Ray Winstone does a good impression of Ray Winstone. Pretty scenery is provided by Keira Knightley and Anna Friel.

I'm sure the book will be better.

the last one was Creation w/Paul Bettany & wife Jennifer Connolly. They play Charles & Emma Darwin during the years leading up to his watershed work The Origin of Species.

I just went to see The Green Lantern and took my kids. I thought it was ok as far a super hero movies go but they thought it was great! It was entertaining and the good vs. evil is normally an easy win with the kids.

We watched Crimson Tide the other day, but that doesn't count since it was like the 10th time. The last previously unseen movie we watched was In a Lonely Place which I loved. I've never seen Bogart better, seriously. Including Casablanca.

Took my teenage boys to see Transformers. We all loved it. Pure and simple fun.

The last theater movie I saw was the latest Pirates of the Caribbean. It was good, the best one I think. I just love Captain jack! But the last movie I saw was "happthankyoumoreplease" . Awesome movie on pay per view now.

Last 'first viewing' movie I watched was "Dean Spanley". Sam Niell, Peter O'Toole, Brian Brown. Recommended

Right now I'm in the middle of The Thin Man w/Myrna Loy & William Powell. Sizzling dialog. They're so great together. He just put her in a cab to Grant's Tomb when she wanted to go with him and a cop; I have a feeling he's gonna pay for that.

I watched Dylan Dog: Dead of Night the other night. Not great! It's based on an Italian comic book and not only features vampires and werewolves but zombies too.

Cars2 I felt like a kid in the backseat, "Are we there yet? How much longer?" Half way though I just wanted it to end. The animation was great, but the plot and character development took a big detour from the first movie.

Took my grandson Sunday to see the last Harry Potter movie.

The last movie I saw is Rango... That was such a boring movie... Let me tell you that had to be one of the most horrible movies I've ever saw...

Saw Let the Right One In on Netflix. 10 out of 10. Loved it. Haven't seen the American version yet.

The last movie I saw was "The Music Never Stopped", a must see if you're a fan of the Grateful Dead (which I'm not); or a fan of old 60s music (which I am!). Based on the true story, "The Last Hippy" it is the story of a man who has a benign brain tumor that wipes out his short term memory. But, with the help of a music therapist he is able to access old long term memories & re-establish a relationship with his family through the music of his youth. Sentimental, yes, but not sickeningly sweet. My teenage son - more of the Transformer/action movie fan - LOVED it!

I just went to the movie theater yesterday... I saw footloose... Great movie... Its where a small town country boy moves to a new town and the law their sais you aint allowed to dance because teenagers died while drunk drinking at a dance place... So this guy that moves there sais that they have rights and he fits in at school... They break the law anyway ( him and his friends ). Anyway he tries to overturn the law but his plan backfires... Thats all I can tell you... Go to the theater and watch it.... Thanks...

I watched The Tempest or it may just have been Tempest with John Cassavetes and Susan Sarandon...oh and a very young Molly Ringwald. It was enjoyable and sort of loopy.

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel based on the novel These Foolish Things by Deborah Moggach. A beautiful movie.

I'm not too old to have seen Marvel's The Avengers and love every minute of it - yay! (never mind that my favourite 2011 movie was Jane Eyre ... shhh ...)

I saw The Avengers last week and loved it too, especially the Hulk. wow!.

This week I saw "Safe", the new Jason Statham movie. A violent action movie that on reflection made no sense but who cares about that. I enjoyed it.

Last week we rented "The Grey" which was incredibly tense and scary. My oldest son who loves horror flicks called it "a true horror movie!"

This weekend we watched "The Seven Year Itch" starring Marilyn Monroe which I remembered watching when I was a teenager, but the people I saw it with had never seen it before. We all loved it! Such a funny movie!
