I love to read. (Bet you didn't see that coming!) I like fiction and nonfiction equally, and enjoy physical books, ebooks, and audiobooks. I read for pleasure, and am quite willing to abandon any book that I'm not enjoying. I only write a proper review if I really have something to say about a book, but I'll always give at least a brief reaction. My star ratings are based on how much I enjoyed the book, and often change after sober reflection. I don't have any particular reading goals or plans—just to have fun and learn stuff.

I'm still on a bit of a social media hiatus while I hibernate from the wintry weather and wrap myself up in blankets and romances, so my updates here may by infrequent for a while. I am pretty excited about the SantaThing books I received this Christmas, though, so I may soon veer away from the romances to enjoy some engineering, genetics, and Discworld.

Wishing you a happy new year with many hours of enticing reading. Enjoy those books! Glad to hear you got some good Santathing books (so did I!)

Happy New Year, and keep warm...

>1 SylviaC: Happy new year, Sylvia. I'm following along. I enjoy your comments ever when our reading paths differ widely.

Glad you scored some good ones this SantaThing.
Happy reading, and looking forward to your thread, as usual.

Happy New Year, Sylvia! Looking forward to following you again once you come out of hibernation (the best place to be at this time of year, IMO!)

Hi Sylvia! It's a bit late to wish you Happy New Year, but I'll keep coming over to visit.

Late to the party, but happy reading in 2018! I understand the social media hiatus. It certainly cuts into reading time.

I was going to thank @SylviaC for a book she shared, but I don't see anything recent...anyone know where she's been?

>15 fuzzi: I've only seen her on FB now and then.

I'm here and healthy and happy! My hiatus has allowed for a lot more reading time, but I've been missing all the Green Dragon conversation. After the Christmas chaos, I will probably join in more here, but won't do another journal for a while.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! I hope to chat with all of you soon.

Come to think of it, the other Canadian apparently MIA is @katylit. Both she and Sylvia kindly sent me get-well messages in June, which were and are much appreciated.

Not in Louise Penny's Armand Gamache books. But I probably would long before reaching those temperatures!

>19 SylviaC: I'm glad to hear you're well, Sylvia. I didn't see you around SantaThing, so I was worried. Happy holidays!

It's good to hear from you Sylvia! I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and look forward to more book chat with you in the new year.
