King rocks!

I've read every King book there is, with the exception of Duma Key that comes out tommorow! I'm excited, it got 4.5 stars in People magazine, not that that matters. My favorite King book has to be the Darktower series. A seven book long epic that keeps you going the whole way through. My favorite novel has to be Bag of Bones, it was different, but I still enjoyed it a lot. My least favorite book was Tommyknockers. I didn't like the whole science fiction aspect of it. As far as movies go I have to say like any other avid book reader in general, the book is always better than the movie, no exceptions. I have to go for the classic on this one, Carrie. Feel free to shoot the stuff here!!!!

I've not read every book but have read several, most recently Lisey's Story. Would love to see Cell as a movie. Beginning to think I need to tackle the Dark Tower series!

I haven't made my way through King's complete works just yet, but I'm getting there! I had read his novels occasionally up until I read the Dark Tower, and then I was hooked. Now I'm slowly but surely making my way through everything else. I love how his novels reference each other, and I think this is what makes Kind one of my favorite authors.

#4 - I've read The Stand and love it. It is my favourite SK book outside of the Dark Tower series (although it is linked to it) and I remember SK writing somewhere that most people pick that as their favourite of his books.

Today I bought Duma Key, just out today here in England, and got a limited edition SK keyring with it (and the book was half price too), so I am very happy. Have already started it and it's shaping up to be a good one, sort of put me in mind of Rose Madder but am not sure why. It just has a feel about it. Think it might remind some people of Lisey's Story though and that wasn't a popular book so it might get a mixed review on here.

How do you go about getting the
limited edition key ring. I would love
to have one to add to my SK Collection.
Did you order the book directly from
England? Maybe I can have a Pen
Pal pick me up a copy of the book
and key chain.

You guys have to get around to reading The Stand and The Dark Tower Series. They are the best. Cell reminds me of a shorter modern age Stand, so if you don't want to tackle a huge book, Cell would be a short read to start with.

#4 The Stand is probably the greatest book by this great writer. You already know, I'm sure, that it's a big fatty, but that shouldn't put you off. My husband hardly ever reads (thinks books are for propping up wonky table legs) but even he loves this one. If you like the kind of book where you enter another world and live in a parallel reality from page 1 onwards then this is the one for you - even though I must admit that my personal favourite is probably The Dead Zone. Buy the revised copy ( because it's even longer, though still not long enough IMO), curl up and enjoy!
By the way, because I live in England, I'm a bit behind many of you with the SKs as you in the States normally get them first (grrrr, grrrr). I'm even further behind than a lot of my compatriots as I force myself to wait for the paperbacks nowadays, so can't join in the current excitement about Duma Key. I do have a quick pray to the god of holiday reading every year that the latest SK will come out in paperback just in time for me to take it on holiday. Bearing in mind that I have worshipped Mr King ever since Carrie and must be responsible for introducing his books to millions of friends, you'd think by now he could email me my own personal advance copy, wouldn't you?

#6 - Sorry, just checked this thread again. I bought the book from Waterstones and they were giving them away "while stocks last." I don't know how many they have to give away though. They were selling the book at half price (£9.49) too. I'm sure your pen pal would be able to get a copy for you but tell him to check that they still have the key ring.

The library called Friday afternoon and my "reserve" had come in, so by 7:00 PM, I was deep into Duma Key. Read til about 10:00. Started again yesterday at 1:30 and just had to keep going til I finished it at 9:30--but had to make myself take breaks to give my eyes a rest. What a great story!

Finished Duma Key, what a great read. I checked out the King's website the other day and saw he plans on coming out with another book in November of short stories. I am totally stoked cannot wait for it... Also just read Heart Shaped Box by Joe Hill, really scary story and eerily similar to King's early works, after all it is his son.

Well it has awhile since anyone has bothered to post here so I'll start it up again. And since this is called King Rocks! I think it very appropriate to mention his Rock Band, The Rock Bottom Remainders. At least I have always thought of it as being his Rock Band. I have gone to see The Rock Bottom Remainders Perform Live twice and believe me they are totally awesome. At one of the Concerts they had Warren Zevon as a Special Guest. This may have been one of his last performances before he died. They did Werewolf Of London which was really cool. Has anyone else ever seen The Rock Bottom Remainders? I also own The Rock Bottom Remainders book and the Audio Book too.
