Hi all,

I'm new here as a LibraryThing author and have just posted a giveaway for my book which will run through August. Obviously, I'm keen to let as many people know about the availibility as possible but I dont want any members to feel I am spamming them. Are there any groups or discussion threads etc where it is appropriate to draw people's attention to my giveaway?

Many thanks for any tips.

I would recommend reading the How Authors can use Librarything help page here - http://www.librarything.com/about_authors.php

Without authors we would not have books to read but over promoting your own work on LT is not a good idea.

I would say that if you join discussions and let people get to know you as a person first and what things you like to read you are less likely to go wrong.

I want to add something to what >2 calm: has said, and that is "Thank you for asking!"

You'll see this is the page to which @calm directed you, but do check out the Hobnob with Authors group: http://www.librarything.com/groups/hobnobwithauthors That group has several threads for promoting books; just be sure to choose the right category. You can find those listed on the main group page at the link I've given here.

Yes, thank you! I am brand new here today so your question and everyones answers are helping me as well. I am trying to set up my page, find my books and get them in here as well as learning what the etiquette is here as I plan for 2019 author events and such.
