I think it was a trilogy, but I'm not completely confident about that.
I remember reading these books in Jr. High or early High School which means they must be written before 2002 at least.
The author's last name might be Jackson.

Hacker by Malorie Blackman in about 1995 in which they try to catch someone who has stolen money from a bank using computers. Might be too early for you and it was as stand alone not a trilogy.

Thank you for the suggestion, but I don't think that's it. It's definitely similar though. I believe the book had yellow on the cover.

There are more than three of them, but possibly the Internet Detectives series by Michael Coleman? Looks like System Crash and Virus Attack both have yellow on their covers.

Thank you! I'm pretty sure that's it. The covers look familiar, and some of the plot lines do, so I must've only read part of the series.
