It was remarkable watching this today.

I think the President had in mind some kind of media ambush of the Democratic House and Senate leaders. It didn't go well. It started with bargaining, went to pleading and boasting, then to finally threatening to shut down the government if he didn't get his way.
I'm not sure that Trump appreciates what the legislative process is about and he seems to think that he could just bargain with Nancy and she would sell him 10 democratic Senate votes to pass his wall funding agenda--even more, do it right out in public view. He doesn't seem to appreciate that other people actually might have views different from his own. And whatever happened to Mexico was going to paying for it all?

Every time I see this behavior I can't help but think of a 3-year old's temper tantrum.
"I don't want to go to bed yet! Waahhh!"

Pelosi challenged the deferment President's "manhood" and he showed himself to be lacking in that department. But at least he finally took ownership of his own political dementia.

FWIW Trump is playing to the 25-30% hardcore base and the 5-10% additional of softer support---a good many of whom go to bed every night and have nightmares dreaming about Mexicans and other Latin Americans crawling through their windows. Pretty much all of the rest of the country is smarter than that but those base people of his watching today are going to go on thinking that the President is for real trying to do something of critical importance for the country.....and it's all bullshit.
But really he has no idea and Pelosi told him several times that he doesn't have the votes. As far as his manhood---Pelosi and Schumer were taunting him a bit which is cool--it kind of reminds me of labor/management battles that occasionally (before I retired anyway) I would take part in. Trump thinks he's the boss--and it's important to let him know that he's not as special as he thinks he is. He's got a larger part of the republican party bowing and scraping but they're more the management/boss type anyway. There are new parameters here and he and his party don't control shit anymore on the legislative side. And his taking 'the mantle' on for a shutdown is a laugh. If it comes to that he'll be blaming anyone and everyone left and right and center because it's never him and that's what he does.
Additionally Tillerson said Trump doesn't read any papers--any analyses from any of the departments of govt. Looking at his twitter account with all the crappy grammar and misspellings that's not hard to believe. He's willfully ignorant of his job and doesn't have any discipline and he's lazy---won't do the work to find out things he doesn't know and doesn't have the humility to think that someone might know more than he does on anything. It shouldn't be surprising then when doing a google search on Trump the most common descriptive word to be found is 'idiot'.
