The 25 most shocking lines from Donald's Trump interview with Laura Ingraham at Normandy
https://www.cnn.com/2019/06/07/politics/donald-trump-normandy/index.html
Out of this list of 25, here are my two favorites:
1. "I think I can say I really got to know her because I sat with her many times. And we had automatic chemistry. You understand that feeling."
Trump kicks off the interview by touting his "automatic chemistry" with Queen Elizabeth II. Which, maybe?! And away we go!
. . .
25. "There are those that say they have never seen the Queen have a better time, a more animated time."
In which Trump suggests that the Queen of England has never had a better time -- ever -- than she did hanging out with him over the past few days.
Really? Who are "those that say they have never seen the Queen have a better time"?
You know, I'm starting to think that it probably really chaps Donnie's ass that no matter what, he will never, ever, ever, and did I say ever? be royalty.

>1 amysisson: It's kind of hard to thank you for posting that. Difficult, you know, reading, I'm a terrific reader, and there are lots of, what I like to say, but I don't know birds, cockamamies, which, if you never you never read from I call them baby cards, which is babies can't read, and when I look away and they scream, I can watch it over and over.

His narcissism has been on full display going all the way back to his TV show--the premise of which was awful. This (#1) is only the latest narcissism. Part of his (and our) problem is he's even conned himself. Way too many people have fallen for it--like they've been sucked in by a black hole.

>1 amysisson: I think you are being a little too harsh. Given the source of the statement there is an excellent chance that #25 is the honest truth. I have no doubt that, prior to his visit, the little boy has never viewed anything with respect to the Queen doing anything. So, in fact, there ARE those who have never seen the Queen have a better time - specifically the little boy himself. :-)

" (Trump's) TV show, the premise of which was awful . . ." (4)
I always did wonder how workers got to be voters of an actor-later-
candidate, whose signature line was "Youre FIRED!" (assuming that a
majority, or large minority of workers did vote for him.)
"#25 is the honest truth" (5)
--- #25 of which thread?

#6--you mean blue collar workers? Part of the issue is that at least aside from major metropolitan areas there are lots of blue collar workers who are at least socially conservative. Pretty much throughout the southern states there's this anti-union vibe and in the north and throughout the rust belt the democratic party is held in large part responsible for neo-liberal trade deals like the Nafta that undermined working people and the communities they live in. I retired from the Post Office in early 2013 but I can imagine that of the 100-125 left from the 500 + it used to be in the plant I worked at...that at least half of them--probably more voted for Trump. It wasn't a surprise to me that so many workers--particularly white voted for Donald because he put his finger on some of their classic grievances--not that he was ever in the least sincere about doing anything about them. Most blue collar workers do believe they were betrayed by trade deals and actually I do too--but I never thought for a moment that this fucking dick of a plutocrat really knew a fucking thing about it. Quite a number of them apparently did though so......I don't know.
Consider Ohio's democratic Senator Sherrod Brown though. Considered one of the more left in the Senate. Trump won Ohio in 2016 and the republicans have about 3/4's of the House seats and yet Brown wins in the last election by 13 points--crushed his republican opponent but then Brown is always talking about trade and union issues--things that are important to people and he's been at it a long time in both the House and the Senate. He's connected to working people there and appreciated for it.
But if the democrats want to win some of them back it wouldn't hurt if they messaged to them better and worry about them more than their wealthy donors.
