NewsKIT - any interest?

Also wondering if there is any interest in a NewsKIT?

A couple of years ago, we had a month during RandomCAT that focused on headlines. People enjoyed it so someone suggested it as a possible CAT.

This is what Jackie_K said, with some suggested themes to get us going:

"I seem to remember after the Ripped from the Headlines month in this year's RandomCAT that quite a few people suggested that as a CAT. Initially I thought it might be a bit too similar to last year's CultureCAT (not that I'd be bothered by that, I loved CultureCAT), but thinking some more I wondered if it would be possible to theme a challenge around categories found within newspapers. For example, politics, foreign affairs, finance, sport, celebrity/entertainment, cooking, cartoons, etc. I'm sure we could come up with 12 categories that would work."

ETA: Additional theme suggestions:

I'd add the Arts and maybe Home Improvement/Real Estate.
Police Logs would be fun for mystery procedurals as well.

Current Events was my favorite subject in 3rd grade and my interest has not waned. I'd be up for this KIT if there's enough interest. I like Jackie_K's ideas for categories as it broadens it away from just the national headlines. I'd add the Arts and maybe Home Improvement/Real Estate.

I'll have more time on the weekend to put our theme suggestions in a nicer format (probably just bullets).

And I'm hoping to come up with some myself. If we have more than 12, we can vote. (If we have enough people to go forward, anyway.)

Hi, beebee. It looks like there is only the two of us wanting to do this one, so I think we'll drop it. Maybe we can suggest it again as a CAT next year? I still quite like the idea of this one!

Hello! I'd be interested, but there are so many CATs and KITs this year that I'm interested in that it might just end up being one too many! I think the original idea was from @RidgewayGirl, she definitely was the one who did the news-related RandomCAT theme that started it off.

I agree. I think there are just too many this year! I threw out three suggestions because I wasn't sure what kind of interest there would be for them.

Let's try for this again next year.

I really do like the idea (and voted for it), but we do seem to be overwhelmed with options this year. Maybe next year!
