Is the slipcase original?

Would be an instant purchase for me if the original text wasn’t in my native language. Thanks for the pictures >1 wcarter:

As far as I can tell it is. Slightly damaged as would be expected with age, and not apparently an addition.

Absolutely gorgeous.

The Allen Press may be my favorite private press amongst my collection. The Allen Press books are exemplary in every aspect - interesting choice(s) of literature, flawless book design, beautiful illustrations, and use of color on every page. And, of course, they were absolute masters of printing with the hand press on the finest dampened handmade papers available. Why these books aren't better known or collected more avidly by serious collectors remains a mystery to me.

No brainer for me if I ever run across it with the necessary dough in my book satchel. This is one I really want to review on my blog. Don't have any Allen Press representation on it yet...

No Allen Press book on 'The Whole Book Experience' ????

Shame on you. Until you add an Allen Press book to your wonderful blog, it is not quite 'Whole'.

>8 dlphcoracl: Exactly. With my present book budget, the blog will never be wholly 'Whole'! ;)

A beautiful and enjoyable book — I have a copy as well.

I doubt that slipcase is original; mine has an acetate jacket, which is much more typical of the Allens’ output. (I believe only their loosely bound productions, such as Persian Stories and A Venetian Story, were given boxes.)

I purchased the book second-hand in fine condition, and it came with the slipcase. If it is not original, i am grateful to the previous owner for making such a well fitted slipcase for the book.

>10 kermaier: Dialogues of Creatures Moralized was published with a slipcase, and at least one other title I cannot think of at the moment.

>12 ultrarightist: my Oresteian Trilogy has a slipcase too

Yes, you’re right, and the Oresteian Trilogy — but I think not titles like the Transposed Heads, Dialogue of the Dogs, etc.
