How do you organize multiple versions of the same book?

I'm curious how other organize multiple version of the same book in LibraryThing. For example, if you own a paperback and audio copy of the same book, do you create 2 entries - one with paperback info and one with the audiobook info? Or do you create 1 single entry and use tags or collections show show you also have it on audio?

I know I could do either, but I am new to LibraryThing and would love to hear what others find useful. Thank you!

I create 2 entries.

I add another entry. Especially if it's an illustrated version that has different contributors and I want to review seperately.

If I borrow and later purchase, I just change the collection it's in.

Two entries, definitely.

If I borrow from the library and then buy the same edition I just add information to the same entry. If it is two different editions, then I use two entries. There is a lot of information that I want to have accurately.

My method is similar to >5 MarthaJeanne:. Up to this point, I've only ever had two different editions -- either a paper book or an ebook, or a hardcover and a paperback, or something like that, where they had different enough data that I would want to be able to specify in each, like ISBN and format, etc. In those cases I always make a separate entry for the second book.

If I had two identical copies, I'm not sure what I'd do. I'd think harder about just using one entry and indicating I have two copies, unless for some reason I started using TinyCat to let friends/family borrow books. Not planning on doing that any time soon, though.

Definitely two entries.

I always add individual entries, even if it's for an exact duplicate.

Different editions, different entries, but I have a backlog of PD fiction where I had a hardcopy and a Gutenberg download against the same entry.

These are slowly being added as separate entries; quite apart from anything, it allows me to de-clutter the house by disposing of hardcopy books I'm very unlikely to re-read.

Where there are significant differences between the UK edition and the US editions, the first edition and a later revised/expanded edition, and between print editions and ebook editions etc, it's best to have separate entries (and make sure they are not combined into the same work).

I do have 2 entries for a record I have 2 copies of though; one is a warped first pressing, the other is a playable reissue. (A 3rd entry will be added at some point when I catalogue the CDs.)

Separate entries - allows me to add separate comments and tags if I need them.

I have two copies of several books where the cover is different for each copy. Each copy is a separate entity.
