Texas loss alarms Trump advisers worried about party clout
Trump's chosen candidate lost to another Republican in Tuesday's Texas House election. Now, his advisers are concerned about an Ohio race up next week.
ALEX ISENSTADT | 07/28/2021

...a May survey showing Texas Republican Susan Wright...with a big 17-point lead over her Republican opponent in a House special election.

...Trump and his advisers are trying to figure out what Wright’s defeat means for them — and how to contain any damage. Her loss Tuesday night sent shockwaves through the former president’s inner circle. Many privately concede the pressure is on them to win another special election next week in Ohio, where a Trump-backed candidate is locked in a close primary.

Advisers worry that a second embarrassing loss would raise questions about the power of Trump’s endorsement — his most prized political commodity, which candidates from Ohio to Wyoming are scrambling to earn before next year’s midterms. More broadly, losses could undermine his standing in the Republican Party, where his popularity and influence has protected Trump’s relevance even as a former president barred from his social media megaphones...

Full Interview - Christian fundamentalist nationalists in the senior ranks of the military, see Trump as an instrument of God’s plan to create an authoritarian Christian state. The military allows active proselytizing and recruitment of soldiers, contrary to the constitutional separation of church and state. Many of these officers and soldiers were involved in the events leading up to and on Jan 6th, which has been described as an attempted coup. So, how's the "de-Trumpification" of America going, hmmm?

Are we "de-Trumpified" enough yet?
How about in Afghanistan?

LOL!!!

First you morons got "what you wanted" from January 6th 2021 in Congress.

More recently, you're getting what you deserve, assholes.

>6 proximity1: Trumpites seem to be all over Biden on Afghanistan, despite the fact that Biden has followed Trump's playbook fairly closely on this. Wouldn't it be cool if they could argue based on facts, and not kneejerk partisanship?

>6 proximity1:

You obviously haven't read the Surrender Monkey's capitulation treaty that he powerfully and strongly "negotiated' with the Taliban. Gave them everything, demanded nothing. Only one issue -- please don't shoot us when we leave -- and absolutely no conditions on the enemy to adhere to not paying off the Afghan army to lay down their arms. Pompeo and the other Republican incompetents never considered that saying "don't fight" didn't cover don't buy the soldiers who hadn't been paid for a long time or given sufficient arms to hold positions against attack.

Because of Surrender Monkey's stupidity, the Taliban hardly needed to fire a shot. They simply paid a toll for peace as they drove from provincial capital to provincial capital, meeting no real resistance except in the NW province.

Go read the capitulation treaty your hero forcefully and toughly wimped out on. His supporters should be ashamed.

The Biden Administration has successfully evacuated twice the 50,000 Afghans initially announced as qualified to leave. And this has been accomplished before the deadline. Because of the unprecedented success, US military installations that had not been scheduled to temporarily accommodate our allied supporters have been pressed into service. The commander of the USNORTHCOM told our citizens (who would listen) today that the universal response to offering succor to the refugees has been one of pride and eager anticipation to make their former combat comrades welcome. Community civilian sports, educational, and civic groups been flooding the various bases offering services and volunteering to make the transition for the families as smooth and pleasant as possible.

But of course the Trump Cult doesn't want to hear of it. Heck, let's lay it on the line: racist Trumpty Dumbpties have been vocal in expressing their opinion about what our Afghan allies deserve. "Evacuate 'em but not to our backyard. We don't want 'em here." Frankly, our armed forces commanders and all us decent Americans wouldn't want them anywhere near the refugees abusing them with their ugly hatred.

I just hope the Kool-Aid Krowd keep sending their Cult Leader money for his 2024 HAHA-a-thon, He'll need it to get his orange jump suit tailored to accommodate his obese gut and glutes.

>6 proximity1: So let me see if I can get this straight... you're saying that because the treasonous assault on America perpetrated by Trump's avid supporters failed, and they were prevented from hanging the vice president and because they only managed to kill a few of their own people and some police officers, that because they failed in their mission to overthrow the government of the US and install a dictator, and let's be honest, because you people fucked up and couldn't execute on your coup, that this means that Trump's utter surrender is suddenly Biden's fault?

That's pretty fucking stupid. No lie, no personal attack, you're probably a fucking genius and all that, but that what you just said there is about a dumb a thing as you've ever said, and you've come up with some pretty dumb-ass shit.

FWIW the withdrawal from Afghanistan was always going to be messy. The fact is we were never going to win there either and some President was going to do it. The Trump administration negotiated the plan with the Taliban and if they had won re-election they would be almost certainly carrying out the same withdrawal probably with far less evacuees. When Biden won the election though he had the option of going ahead or not and he decided to go ahead. It became his at that point—the question to ask is if not now then when and again we weren’t going to win there. We should have never tried to occupy that country in the first place.

Something else to remember: the deal the Trump administration negotiated with the Turks giving the Kurdish homeland away. Some of this reminds me of that.

While watching the news about Afghanistan I remembered reading Caravans by James Michener written in 1963. I read it when I was in high school decades ago and I just had to acquire it and reread it. I am struck at 1) how much I remember from then and 2) how relevant it still it.

For example, when the protagonist is driving from Kabul to Kandahar they come across washed out bridges which had been beautifully built in stone with turrets and other German features. His Afghani guide explained how the Germans built the bridges for well behaved German rivers and were wiped out by the not-so-well behaved Afghan rivers. Even then I saw the metaphor about how Westerners could not bend Afghanistan to Western systems.

The De-Trumpification of America has really kicked into gear this past week.

Too bad it's auto-de-Trumpification by COVID-19 deaths. Libs don't have to do a darn thing. Except take their vaccinated selves out in public only when wearing a face mask correctly.

Unfortunately, some German rivers haven't been so well behaved this summer:
