title/author eaten

hello. haven't been in here for awhile. came in earlier today and my "your books". looked normal. in the middle of doing something- I was rerouted to it- and it all had changed. after awhile, I realized it was now in alphabetical order.

one problem

the very first book has lost its title/author. https://www.librarything.com/work/26428821/reviews
I share it with a few others- but I still don't know what it is/. the cover and reviews doesn't sound like anything I would have entered.

very confused

thank u

hold that thought. just went back... and now the books are in no recognizable order, again, but the first one is still empty.

explanations?

Wow. That Water and Wastewater Technology page is a mess! All sorts of other works have been combined with it. I don't know if that's what caused you're problem, but in any case, I'm going to take a stab at separations.

>1 EGBERTINA: The empty title/author book I'm seeing in your catalog was added manually on June 11th. Were you attempting to manually add a book and it somehow failed you around that date? Particularly if we were also having server issues on that day, I'm guessing this could have caused some weirdness. The work page in question you linked to seems to be the infamous "black hole work" on LibraryThing that is related to at least a couple of other bug reports on the site. Going to find those now and post them here for reference...

Okay, I'm closing this and bringing it up on this very old bug report from 2010 (but it's getting updated with new instances): https://www.librarything.com/topic/80849.

For some reason, the work number you listed at >1 EGBERTINA: is different than the work number I'm getting when going directly from your catalog (https://www.librarything.com/catalog/EGBERTINA/allcollections) to the empty title/author work page. I'm finding the work page by clicking the "work page" book button to the right of the book in your catalog, in the right tool area of your catalog. Not sure if that had anything to do with @lilithcat's work on cleaning up the editions there.

>4 kristilabrie: Yes, once separating (and/or combining) have been done, the old URL is just a mess, because it tries to combine data from a work and a book that no longer belong together.

>4 kristilabrie: Iassume it is okay for me to delete? I was entering books that emphasized the teaching of literature, that day. I have no recollection of anything not having gone through. With the order all changed around, I can't "see" which books got entered and re-shelved.

thank

>6 EGBERTINA: There are plenty of other instances of that bug, if you'd like to delete your example. I think that's fine. You'd probably have to live with it for much longer before developers get a chance to dive into this again, I'm guessing, so whatever suits you best you should do. :) Hope this helps, but let me know if there's anything else you'd like help with.
