Nothing on my calendar so I’m in for another readathon. I’ll mainly be reading from Redshirts for book club but I’ve grown fond of reading from several books, so there will be others.

Busy . . . as seems to be the case most weekends nowadays. I'll get some audio time in on Saturday and some print/ebook time as well sometime. I hope to finish a couple of books over the weekend . . . and I need to start another that needs to be finished by next Sunday night.

Saturday night update

Books read from: I am reading mostly fun stuff this weekend. Delta Wedding by Eudora Welty. Mimosa Tree Mystery by Ovidia Yu. I started listening to Us Against You by Fredrik Backman on the way home from Gadsden today. Still Woman Enough: A Memoir by Loretta Lynn. I am listening to Beartown by Fredrik Backman. I am also slowly reading through the captions and looking carefully at the illustrations in Mysteries of the Middle Ages by Thomas Cahill since I have the book.

Books finished in this weekend's Readathon: I finished listening to Beartown by Fredrik Backman and Deal of a Lifetime by Fredrik Backman on my trip up, and back, to Gadsden today. I finished reading Still Woman Enough: A Memoir by Loretta Lynn

Book Thoughts: I finished several books this weekend. Still Woman Enough was more of Loretta Lynn's life and times. I thought this one was more polished than the previous memoir and had more in it about the country music industry. I finished listening to Beartown by Fredrik Backman and enjoyed this book a whole lot. This one may make my personal top books of the year list. It was so good that I started the second book in this trilogy immediately.

Non Book Activities: Went to Gadsden for a knitting class and finished one project while there. However, yarn is like books - finish one and buy two more. That is just what happened. I bought more yarn!
Time reading: 4 hours today - mostly listening time
Time posting:
Food: No cooking today and ate leftovers for lunch. I did manage to purchase two nice bottles of wine for Christmas.

Total books finished since the Read-A-Thon Began: 278

I 've always wanted to try NaNoWriMo!

Late to the party but still reading.

Books:
Varina. Was only half-way through for book club but enjoyed the discussion. I like it and will finish.
The Marlow Murder Club. My son thought I would like this one and sent it to me.
Such a Fun Age, current audio book.

Dinner last night at a French restaurant before our symphony program, a wonderful event! It featured Rhiannan Giddens, musical genius; she sold out Carnegie Hall the previous evening.

Other activity:
Spent Friday and part of Sat with my sis, avid gardener and naturalist. We hiked along the Haw River, visited the NC Botanical Gardens, hit a used bkstore and a couple thrift shops, and did an artists guild tour of galleries.

Still working on Valley of the Sun. I was too tired to read more than a couple stories last night.

I spent five hours in my dad's RV, scrubbing, vacuuming, so it's now clean enough to sell. He wasn't dirty, just old and unable to deep clean. I had offered, but he politely refused.

Sunday night update

Books read from: I am reading mostly fun stuff this weekend, except for Delta Wedding by Eudora Welty. Mimosa Tree Mystery by Ovidia Yu. I am listening to Us Against You by Fredrik Backman and so far enjoying it as much as I did Beartown. I am still slowly cruising through the captions and looking carefully at the illustrations in Mysteries of the Middle Ages by Thomas Cahill even though I listened to the recorded version of the book.

Books finished in this weekend's Readathon: I finished listening to Beartown by Fredrik Backman and Deal of a Lifetime by Fredrik Backman on my trip up, and back, to Gadsden today. I finished reading Still Woman Enough: A Memoir by Loretta Lynn.

Book Thoughts: I keep trying to read two pages a day in Delta Wedding and today I hit page 150. Only 100 more to go and this book will be done. I am enjoying the last of the Crown Colony series Mimosa Tree Mystery and am learning some new things about the history of Singapore. I am about 100 pages from getting this book read. I spent the morning reading instead of talking on the phone so got lots read on it.

Non Book Activities: I helped a friend move all of her upstairs stuff downstairs in her house. She is getting her carpet ripped out and refinishing the hardwood floors under them. For one week she is staying in an extended stay hotel and then we get to help her move the stuff back into the rooms.

Time reading: 4 hours this morning.
Time posting:
Food: No cooking today and ate leftovers for lunch.
