Thanks for hosting another one, Silver! I am hoping to finish up some library books over this weekend.

I'm in! I'm taking the next three days easy to recover from a spot of oral surgery this morning, so I should have lots of reading time.

I’m reading in California this weekend.
We’re keeping the grandkids for a week while the parents go on an anniversary getaway.
About to start Wolf Hollow by Lauren Will.

I’m in, and if I had thought of it beforehand might’ve themed my read towards celebrating Cinqo de Mayo but unfortunately my bookmarks are largely in British works at the moment so I guess I’ll just pretend it’s an intentional celebratory gesture!

I'm still working on Invader by CJ Cherryh. Excellent, as usual, but I've been spending my free time outside so not made much progress.

Saturday afternoon update
Books read from: Atlantic: Cultivating Delight: A Natural History of My Garden by Diane Ackerman. I started Hero of the Empire: The Boer War, a Daring Escape, and the Making of Winston Churchill by Candace Millard and I continue to slowly read Empires of Light: Edison, Tesla, Westinghouse, the Race to Electrify the World by Jill Jonnes. I am determined to finish this book. I am listening to This Is How It Always Is by Laurie Frankel.
Books finished in this weekend's Readathon: I finished reading Atlantic: Great Sea Battles, heroic Discoveries, Titanic Storms, and a Vast Ocean of a Million Stories by Simon Winchester
Book Thoughts: I finished Winchester's book on the Atlantic and don't think that this is one of his better books. It is very North Atlantic centered and that is because it is heavily Euro-centered. There are several facts that he got wrong having to do with the slave trade, and his discuss of the Southern Atlantic is surprisingly slim. I was also surprised that his geological discussion about this ocean was only discussed in the beginning and not very in-depth. This is strange when the fact that Winchester is a trained geologist and writing about geology is one of his strengths.
Non-Book activities: I spent the morning watching the coronation. I set my alarm for 5:30 AM and then fell asleep after I got up and turned on the TV so missed most of the important parts. I was very impressed with the music and I loved hearing about the meaning of all the specific items and the parts of the ceremony. I finally started binge watching a TV show. I went to the public library and got the first season of Star Trek Discovery.
Time reading: 1 hour reading
Time posting:
Food: a baloney sandwich for lunch with potato chips.
Total books finished since the Read-A-Thon Began: 323

Weekend wrap-up
Books read from: Hero of the Empire: The Boer War, a Daring Escape, and the Making of Winston Churchill by Candace Millard and I continue to slowly read Empires of Light: Edison, Tesla, Westinghouse, the Race to Electrify the World by Jill Jonnes. I am almost finished with Cultivating Delight: A Natural History of My Garden by Diane Ackerman.
Book Thoughts: It was a rather disappointing weekend. I didn't get as much read as I wanted to. I blame the binge watching. I shut off the TV this morning and read several pages in Cultivating Delight and enjoyed this quiet time. One of the essays was amusing and caused me to laugh out loud. I am enjoying these essays on gardening and nature. The author muses on many things having to do with nature and discusses many questions about gardens, gardening, and nature and our place in nature. I should finish it today.
Non-Book activities: I continue to binge watch a TV show. I went to the public library and got the first season of Star Trek Discovery. I finished watching it today and so went to the public library and checked out season 2 and started on that one tonight. I am astounded at how much time that has sucked out of my weekend. It is a good thing that the DVD player is only loaned to me. That way I know that I won't be spending all my time watching TV instead of DOING something! I did go outside and plant my garden herbs this morning. The rest of them will have to wait until I get back to Kansas to get planted out there. I have to have fresh basil in the summertime, so will plant them in pots so that I can use it when I need it. Plus watering a few pots will give my mother something to do that will get her out the door.

Such interesting reads listed in all the above. My slim offering:
Books read from: The Code of the Woosters: Jeeves to the Rescue, P. G. Wodehouse; We Come Unseen, Jim Ring
Time reading:
Fri: 1.25
Sat: 1.75
Sun: 4.25
Snacks: chai tea. Lots & lots. I’m now officially part Chai tea (which, if I remember, chai means tea… rather repetitive but sorry, don’t mean to digress.)
Thoughts: One can always use a Woosterism like “(he) had only a couple more ounces of brain than a cuckoo clock,” ready to be deployed!
Non-book activities: puttering about the yard. Not particularly effectively but like the Chai, there was a lot of it.
