Add works to Awards by "magic"

We've made a new "Add Multiple Works by Magic" feature to LibraryThing awards.

Basically, you paste something that includes a list of works, and we use AI to find the works. It's a great way to add a lot of works at the same time, for example for an award LibraryThing has never seen before. But it is NOT foolproof, so check your work!

I made a very quick video here:

Sounds good!

However: "video unavailable. This video has been removed by the uploader"

Is it really AI though, or is it just old fashioned heuristics?

ChatGPT. We've used other methods, for example when parsing Wikipedia. But this is ChatGPT.

>1 timspalding: It's really great. I used it for an award and it worked a treat. So much quicker. Thank you.

We've now added this same feature to Lists and Series. See post https://www.librarything.com/topic/355647

This is a nifty tool! I have used it!

But.

When someone uses this tool to add a stage on existing works, it produces duplicates that must be fixed manually. This happens a lot when winners are announced for awards that previously announced lists of finalists. Is there a way for this tool to check that the works are already listed, instead of just adding the works and creating duplicates?

Recent examples:
Davitt Award https://www.librarything.com/award/2525/work
Bram Stoker Award https://www.librarything.com/award/267/Bram-Stoker-Award

(Tools shouldn't make more work than they save.)
(Edited for more complete explanation & examples.)
