Jules Verne’s six greatest science fiction novels together in a unique set from Easton By Design.

Includes reproductions of the English language first editions of 20,000 Leagues Under the Seas, From the Earth to the Moon, Journey to the Center of the Earth, Dropped from the Clouds, The Abandoned and The Secret Island.

Features all the original, vintage illustrations and dust jacket art that makes a dramatic impact when placed together.

660 USD or (6) installments at 110 USD per installment.

This makes several of these sets thus far, at least in recent years:

1.) Item 3054, 5 volume Washington set
2.) Item 3062, 4 volume King Arthur set
3.) Item 3104, 5 volume Vonnegut set
4.) Item 3557, 6 volume Jane Austen set

More cloth bound with slip-cover wrappings and stained page tops.

I refuse to pay leather prices for non-leather items.

Lots of discussion in others threads about the (4) listed above.

I actually like cloth bound, but doubt the translations are anything special.

I hate when they do this. What, three books they've over-published to death, and three new to EP titles, all bundled together to make you spend more? If they put this on sale for ~$300 someday, I'll buy a set. If they sold these individually I'd buy the new ones today at the individual $110 price. I hope they get lumps of coal for Christmas this year.

>3 treereader: I agree. There have been a few times when EP releases a set that has volumes I am missing but will not sell them individually. I simply cannot afford to purchase duplicates of the same title. Very annoying.

The last three books in this set "Dropped from the Clouds, The Abandoned and The Secret Island" are just the three parts that make up The Mysterious Island, that has been published multiple times. So this is really just the 4 popular titles that have been published by Easton Press a LOT. I believe the individual titles have only been printed 1 other time by Easton Press, as the DLE #2914.

Looks cool to me though. Perhaps for younger folks who do not have theses in leather. the pricing is ok as well. if the cloth covers are well done, then, in the age of $10 fast food hamburgers, this price is fine.

Ah yes, good catch. I thought those sounded familiar but I knew I didn't have them as individual titles and thought they were previously unpublished. You're right, this set is good if you don't have anything yet. EP walked right up to that line of publishing a new book that's bundled with duplicates but didn't quite cross it. How clever.

I usually prefer individual books over omnibus editions, but The Mysterious Island seems more like a single volume. Depending on how these are illustrated, I'm going to assume the Wyeth illustrated volume is the best one at this point that Easton has published. I have many photos from it in the Verne thread in the photo album if anyone is curious. Even the Famous edition isn't too badly done.
