Happy 2024, may this year be a better one! What 1001 books are you reading in this new year?

Started War and Peace, reading 40 pages per day will mean I can read it in the month of January. I last read it about 30 years ago!
Will start Death In Rome later in the month.

I've started off the month with The Magus by John Fowles.

I've taken up the 1001 Nights, which I'm reading in French, translated by Jamel Eddine Bencheikh and André Miquel. It's my year long project although I suspect I'll be done before that. So far I'm loving the mix of prose, poetry and magic realism.

Having finished Death in Rome I am now listening to Our Mutual Friend on audio and reading Operation Shylock on paper.

I've just finished As If I Am Not There, also known as S. by Slavenka Drakulic. I can't say this was an enjoyable read given the subject matter, the rape and torture of women by soldiers during the Bosnian War, but the writing was quite good, and I am glad to have read it.

I am 100 pages in Broken April and it is very enjoyable so far. A new-to-me author, but I will seek out more of his books.
