I thought it's a good idea to check whether something unknown to me but interesting is there, and indeed picked up a few titles, but then came across The Fifth Season, so all the recs lost any credibility 😔

>2 SandraArdnas: I was hoping that a reader of this category of books would be able to check the list out. So, maybe suspect in some ways. I suppose putting out a list like this will always be somewhat questioned. I myself don't read the type of books on this list.

It's not a perfect list. I think they picked the wrong books for Thomas Pynchon and Philip K. Dick, evidently targeting popularity rather than quality in those cases. But I give them points for the perspicacity to include Little, Big.

Fast work from @@conceptDawg has already added the list into LibraryThing's awards and honors section, at: https://www.librarything.com/award/15389/

Fun, as always with lists… Some very obvious choices, some weird ones, and some that are plain wrong. Like any list.
I’m surprised to see that even though my reading doesn’t seem to be at all US-focussed, I’ve read about a quarter of the books on the list. Less surprised to find that the proportion read goes down steeply after 2000, though.

One of the recent titles I’ve read is Nothing to See Here, and I’m scratching my head. It was entertaining, but why is it on a Greats list? What am I missing about it?
