Different Sort orders per Collection

I am surprised this does not exist yet unless I have not observed how it works to this point.

What I want is to apply sort rules on a per-collection basis. For example, I want my "Your Library" collection to sort based on "Dates Read", while I want my "Owned" collection to sort based on "Date Acquired". Right now I have to switch sort orders manually each time I visit a different collection, which is super annoying.

If this feature already exists, please tell me how.

Thanks in advance,
Mr. Hoorn

It sounds like you might want to set up specific catalog styles for each of your collections. You can have five (A through E) set up at any given time. You'd still have to switch styles when you change collections, but it would be just two clicks in the header bar.

The sorting will remain the same though - even if you can see different columns.

Eh, that's too bad. It would be good if sorting choices would attach to styles. That seems more intuitive and useful to me than having them attach to collections--not that it would be bad if they did.

You can create permanent links to your catalog sorted & filtered in particular ways. Just go to the collection you want, sort it the way you want it, then click the "permanent link" link in the lower left corner. Copy the URL from the URL bar at the top, then you can save it as a browser bookmark, paste it into your profile or home page, email it to someone, etc.

I really wouldn't want my collections to switch to how they were previously sorted whenever I click them. In fact, I'd protest loudly if it was ever implemented. If I chose a sort order, I want it to stick until I tell it otherwise. Switching based on collection is so completely counterintuitive that it will have new users, as well as some old ones, in fits to discover what the heck is going on. Just click the column you want sorted by, it's one click provided you have those columns visible

Okay that's the closest to what I have in mind. Thanks a lot.

Just clicking the permanent link button should copy the link into your clipboard so you can then just paste it somewhere else

>8 jjwilson61: That might be browser-dependent? It doesn't do that for me.
