It's not the hugest of problems, but unexpected.
I have an automatic recommendation for the Iliad (in translation).
I have my copy catalogued, and it's properly combined with the rest of the modern language versions. And when I click the link in recommendations it takes me to the book page for my copy.

I suspect this is a side effect of the fact that someone pulled apart the various translations of both Homer books and they were put back together only in the last days. So when the recommendation was made, the dataset used for it had them separated…

I would add that, as someone who has a lot of old books (I won't bore people with the list), I get a lot of recommendations for books I already have, presumably because of uncombined copies. There always seem to be uncombined copies of the Iliad, the Odyssey, the Canterbury Tales, etc. Usually they don't come with recommendations attached, because the people who make the mistakes probably haven't figures out recommendations yet :-), but it happens often enough that I just sigh and move on when I find a suggestion of a book I already have.

>5 waltzmn:: I understand that (I usually don't pay much attention to member recommendations myself). But this was an automatic recommendation and the book was properly combined. So I was sort of worried about what was going on with the algorithm.

It sounds as if we're mostly in agreement, but I'll also clarify: I was referring to automatic recommendations. Like you, I don't look at member recommendations all that often. I rarely look at the automatic ones in detail, either, but since glancing at them clears the notification, I glance at them rather than clearing it some other way. :-)
