Wrong award stage displayed on Work page

Time's Echo is the winner of the 2024 Ralph Waldo Emerson award, and is correctly listed with both the Winner and Shortlist stages. It appears correctly as the winner and as a shortlisted title on the award page. However, on the work page, the award displays as "Ralph Waldo Emerson Award (Shortlist – 2024)", not Winner.

This issue was identified during my discussion with Charon07, and Abigail later notified me of the report. I am using information from the work pages in ways in which accuracy crucial, so when I noticed it, I needed a solution.

Could you provide more details about the bug and how it was fixed? I’m asking to better understand how the accuracy of awards listed on work pages will be ensured or maintained going forward.

Thanks

Note: I've edited this message to be more clear, concise, and useful. it's also less force / demanding.

All CK is entered by members and can be changed by other members. It is as accurate as the members have entered it. Nobody can guarantee that any specific piece of information is accurate. In this case a member was deleting accurate information. It happens.
The information here is crowd sourced and does not claim any authority.

>5 MarthaJeanne: that is not what I was asking, and I was talking to knerd.knitter specifically.

to be accurate, this wasn’t related to members deleting information but rather a backend code issue.

this bug fix is very helpful; I also do additional verification checks, so user generated content wasn't the problem — the problem was the bug itself. the fix will streamline my process.

I noticed a new issue.

I did a diff on these two pages https://www.librarything.com/author/wardjesmyn and https://www.librarything.com/work/29703559 and found that one of the libby awards (historical fiction) is found only in the work page and not the author page.

can you begin diagnostics?

>11 gilroy: It's not that Jesmyn Ward herself "won" a Libby award, but that Let Us Descend won the Historical Fiction category and was a finalist in the Adult Fiction category. Both display correctly on the work page; on the Author page in the Awards section, only the finalist for Adult Fiction displays (whether sorted by Award or Work).

>12 hipdeep: Oh, if the work won the award, it shouldn't show on the author's page. Only the award won by the author themselves should show on the author page.

I thought work awards were added to the author page as part of the LT2 author changes.

Under the field for "Awards and honor" on the Author page, the example given says "Pulitzer Prize (History, 1991)", "Hugo (1991)" Awards given for a specific work should only be entered on the work page, not the author page. (emphasis added)

I think you're talking about the common knowledge section of the author page. I believe the previous discussion is about the awards section of the author page.

>16 sqdancer: Yes, I think this is the miscommunication. Both previous reports refer to the Awards section of the Author page, which is automatically generated from awards given to the books, not the CK section of the author page.

Thanks, didn't realize there were two different award sections. Weird, and confusing.

I have updated this to display the awards in the right order (highest stage first) on the work page and also to display the one with the highest stage on the author page; the author page only displays one row for each award, and since the sorting was wrong, that's why the Winner one was missing on the author page, but it should be fixed now.

if you look at
https://www.librarything.com/award/706.0.0.2024/PEN%25252FFaulkner-Award-for-Fic...
https://www.librarything.com/work/28719558/t/What-Happened-to-Ruthy-Ramirez

it says that this work/author WON the award.

if you go to the author page, it says Finalist.
https://www.librarything.com/author/jimenezclaire

something is still not right. this wrong error is making things difficult for me

Reopening since the glitch is on the author page.
