Lynda's (Carmenere) Uprooted!

Hi everyone and Happy New Year!
I am Lynda from Cleveland, Ohio. I've been a somewhat unsuccessful Rooter in the past but this year I mean business!
With a humble goal of 25 Roots, I'm feeling I will have success. My personal incentive of only purchasing new books when and only when I reach my goal, will certainly play a part in pulling those Roots off my shelf and Kindle.

Also, in staying with the fountain theme for 2025, I've chosen a water ticker which reminds me of the waves tumbling toward the edge of Niagara Falls.

ROOT #2 plucked What you are looking for is in the library (a newer, tender ROOT easily plucked.
Uplifting and reassuring (well, there is a cat on the cover. If you know, you know)

ROOT #3 First root for February The Reluctant Fundamentalist. Half way thru I said, "Hmmm, this seems familiar" so yup I purchased then reread a book unintentionally.

ROOT #4 for February Born a Crime. This was a great read!

#6 The Strings of Murder. My son gifted me with this book for Christmas. He knows I'm crazy about Scotland and this one is captures the atmosphere well. Murder(s), Music, Body Snatching. Well done.

#7 Shattered Air I had this one on my shelf for years. I’m glad I finally did. Very suspenseful and also sad.

#8 The Frozen River
#9 I Who Have Never Known Men

Not deep roots, I plucked them from my shelf before they had a chance to get to cozy but ROOTS non the less.

#10 Their Eyes Were Watching God

This one was on my shelf for years. I'm sorry i put it off for so long. i read along with the audio version. Ruby Dee's narration added so much to the story. i highly recommend it.

14th ROOT is Vera Wong's Unsolicited Advice for Murderers.

Hi Connie! Thanks for stopping by. It has been a hot and humid summer. Not that I'm complaining. I can't work in the yard during these heat waves so I have to read instead! Oh, poor me, not! haha

3rd Root for July Heart of a Dog. A hilarious satire.

Another ROOT for July, the 4th and 18th for the year. Tokyo Ueno Station. Didn't really care for it but at least it's off my shelf.

19th ROOT for the year is finished Everyone on this train is a suspect. I really enjoyed this one!

I really want to read that series, it sounds like so much fun.

20th ROOT for the year....Evenings & Weekends. I gave it 5 stars because the writing from this debut author was soooo good.

#21 for the year Cuyahoga. I really enjoyed this book about the Cuyahoga River in the 1800's. It separated Ohio City and Cleveland back in the day until the two cities "married" in 1838 and Ohio City taking the name of Cleveland. To this day there remains a friendly rivalry between Eastsiders and Westsiders as to which side is the best side.

#22 for 2025 Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Man can that woman write!

#23 The Coin I read this from my Kindle. Yay! i hardly ever read from my Kindle library but when i saw jack Edward's Fable group "Inklings" was reading it in September, i said 'Here we go!"
