1TalvitarMovies
Yesterday, I added four movies on my movie account (TalvitarMovies). Everything worked reasonably well (although the page is really slow these days). However, today, those four movies don't show the tags on the Your Books list! I checked the book page - the tags are there just fine. For some reason they just don't come up on the Your books page. And it only applies to those movies I added yesterday. I checked my book account (under "Talvitar") and everything looks fine, but then, I didn't add any books there yesterday.

I see tags on Carry-on 2024 in your catalogue. Probably just delay. As you say, the site is very slow lately.

Yeah, Carry-on is the last one with tags showing. The ones updated yesterday - e.g. Lift, and The Merry Gentlemen - don't have them.
Also, I checked Add books page -- "Recently added" shows Carry-on as the most recent. This is absolutely freakish as Your books does have four later ones...
(trying to put a screenshot photo here, no idea if I did it right! https://www.librarything.com/pic/11509414 )

>3 gilroy: No, they don't. They're there, somewhere, since I can see them on the book page. Also, there was no such a problem yesterday when I input the movies. A mystery!

What operating system are you using? What browser are you using?
This might be a system specific thing.
I agree I don't see the tags on the Your Books page with Firefox.

>1 TalvitarMovies: I also don’t see tags for the four movies added 3/1/2025 on the Your Books page, but I do see them on the individual works pages. Also, if I follow the link on your tags page for one of the relevant tags, say, “Netflix” (https://www.librarything.com/catalog/TalvitarMovies?tag=Netflix), the movies appear but without the tag. So the tags are there, the system knows about them, but they’re just not displaying on Your Books page. BTW, I’m using DuckDuckGo browser on an iPad.

I'm just throwing some links in here to provide some forensics.
https://www.librarything.com/catalog/TalvitarMovies?&deepsearch=282018283%20...
displays the four movies and they don't appear to have tags.
Looking at one of them
https://www.librarything.com/work/33708784/details/282018283
shows the tags
movies, action, comedy, Netflix, seen 2024
Following one of the tags
https://www.librarything.com/catalog/TalvitarMovies?tag=seen+2024
find 99 items including
Spy - vakoojan asussa movie 2015 by Paul Feig (2015)
which however displays no tags.
So quite clearly a weird bug.

Could this have something to do with the longstanding bug that adding works of 'other' media, Video Recording in this case, seems to create a duplicate work, one edition labelled with the media type, and one as a zero-copy without the media information?
https://www.librarything.com/topic/196851
Each of the four works involved here is a 1-copy and has this trait, easy to see due to the unusual titles, so I'd theorise combining each to its main work would resolve the issue with the tags – though I'd suggest we want to leave them as-is for staff to look into first.
Eg.
https://www.librarything.com/combine.php?work=33707563
You can see has the 'movie 2024' in an edition within the main work and also within the duplicate identifying that it relates to the user's copy.
So if the tags are adding before the system unnecessarily duplicates the work, they could be staying tied to the correct work number. Somehow.

Yeah, something weird is going on. I just added two more, just to see how it goes - one with Overcat, one manually (like those 4 yesterday). Both of these show up just fine, tags an' all.
However, on the add books page Alien Romulus shows 26 members having the same movie -- on the book page is shows "0 members" and Your book shows 1. Yesterday, I remember that the movie Spy showed over 180 members on the Add books page -- now there's just me. (Also, all the 4 movies I added yesterday have vanished from the Add books page.)
For my movie account, I use Firefox on laptop, Samsung's browser on mobile (for my book account, Opera on laptop and Chrome on mobile).

I'm seeing all of the tags noted in all of the catalog links in this thread, now. I'm guessing it was our server delay causing problems, but I believe we're catching up now. Please let me know if you're still seeing any issues with seeing tags!

I have a similar problem. When I add tags, they show up fine at first, but then they don't show up on the Your Books list the next day. They are there on the individual book pages, though, and when I save them there once more, they show up on the Your Books list as well. It has been like this for three days now, very odd.
I added ebooks and an audiobook, and I use Safari.

>13 MissBrangwen: Where are you originally adding the disappearing tags? e.g. from the "Add books" page after adding, or before adding, somewhere else?
15MissBrangwen
>14 kristilabrie: I add them on the book page after adding. I click "edit book" on the book page and then add the tags. I also tried double saving yesterday, but still they were not visible this morning until I saved them again.

Thanks for the information. I wasn't able to reproduce it, so I wonder if it's related to a delay that we were experiencing (which should be better/improving now).
Just in case: what browser and OS (operating system) are you using (e.g. Google Chrome, version 90 and Windows 7, etc.)? And what sort of network are you on? (If you'd like to volunteer your IP, you can private message me after checking for it here: https://www.whatsmyip.org - that might help me see if there's particular slowness for you or not.)

Today the bug did not occur and all the tags are there! I'll watch it and get back to you if it occurs again.

I'm wondering if this bug is related to this caching issue that conceptdawg mentioned:
