Well, it's another month already. What comics are everyone reading in August?

I'm still hanging out in the Archie universe with Jughead, which was delightfully unserious and fun. I'll be reading volume 2 next once I can get my hands on it.

I am continuing with book 6 of Le Grand Mort, Bréche.

I do not really read comics. But I do own every Conan publication ever published in English since 1932 which entails literally thousands of Comics and Magazine formats. I graze through them constantly in the endless quest to understand the Dark haired, blue eyed, sullen Northerner.

I just finished Static Season One. Super heavy (in the realistic sense) for a DC comic.

I've also got two new Modern Era Epic Collections to read, but I usually read them on Hoopla and Hoopla has only gotten one new Marvel book since May, so I guess I'm going to have to read them sitting at a table.

I've been continuing with graphic memoirs this month: So far Ginseng Roots by Craig Thompson and All Our Ordinary Stories by Teresa Wong. Next up is The Dissident Club by Taha Siddiqui.

>6 Watry: Does your library have access to ComicsPlus by any chance? I'm not sure how much more Marvel or DC content it might have, but it could potentially give you more options than just Hoopla.

LT posted my comment twice for some reason .... edited to remove that.

>8 sweetiegherkin: It was a good thought, but no. I have cards to multiple systems and only one of them even has Hoopla.

>10 Watry: Too bad. You could try recommending it to your local library; if they know there's interest, they might add it to the budget for 2026.

>1 sweetiegherkin:
Well, I’m actually new to comics. I started reading them about a month ago and I'm in love with it. I started with (Batman: Year One) and then read (The Long Halloween series), and I have to say this series was something else for me. I’m now reading (Robin: Year One), which comes right after The Long Halloween events in the timeline.

Why I started reading comics:
The main reason is to learn English (I’m from Syria), but also because I like superhero stuff.

Yeah, it's great! I actually want to start reading different DC Comics titles. What would you recommend for me?

>14 iOsama: Hmmm, I personally like the Harley Quinn comics but may not be everyone. Have you tried The Killing Joke? Classic, darker Batman book but in line with the other ones you mentioned.

>14 iOsama: Other than Batman: Year One, my favorites of all DC's various "Year One" comics are probably Batgirl: Year One and JLA: Year One.

Yesterday I started in on Justice League International Omnibus, Volume 1. I read some of these back when I was in college, but I'm looking forward to reading all of them and in order.
