NON-MEMBERS: Please feel free to post your questions/comments/suggestions regarding CP here.
CP MEMBERS: Please monitor this thread and feel free to respond or add your own comments. Well, those suitable for general discussion, anyway. Keep "Official" stuff on the CP forum. Thanks.
I will be monitoring this thread through both of my personas (as CP and as Glacierman) and will answer any questions folks may have. Griffin will also be monitoring this (or I miss my guess), so what I can't answer, he will be able to, I'm sure.
Thans and have at it!

>5 consensuspress: I just got the invite email, should I reply in order to "re-up", or was it just a blanket email and existing members already carry over?
7consensuspress
Existing members need not apply.

The response so far has been....amazing. Wow.

Just made my down payment - very excited!

Well, open enrollment has ended with about 124 members in total now and we are forging ahead. The call for proposals has 30+ hours to go and then we will begin trimming the list down to the final selection.
Consensus Press is moving ahead!

Just a reminder that this thread is the place for non-members to comment on or respond to posts in the CP forum, as posting privileges there are restricted to members only.
We do want to hear from non-members, especially those who would like to become members in the future.
Thanks.

14bacchus.
I do like where this is heading… with Sinuhe and Bulgakov candidacy I believe it’d be wildly interesting. I might commit to the press next round.

>14 bacchus.: The finalist list for this second book is very interesting...and tough. Six great proposals. Members will have some tough choices to make, that for sure!

A reminder that curious non-members can read the posts in our CP forum, so if you are curious as to what we are about, head on over and see. Members only have posting privileges, though, so if you want to comment, do so here in this thread.

Not at this time. We will start accepting new members when we begin the process for our third book, which will likely not be for some time.

>18 consensuspress: In relation to >17 kreekree:, is there an email list started where interested potential future members could put their names on? In that way, Consensus Press could just send one info-blast email to interested people when the Press opens up for new membership, instead of having each person needing to happen to see the announcement in these forums at some future unknown date.
...just a question. If there isn't currently a list, can one be started?
I just had a look at the website, and the Contact (linked) page does have a submission form, but it doesn't explicitly state that it's a place where non-members can get added to an email list to be notified when new membership opportunities open up.

>19 Tuna_Melon: I have not been keeping track of prospective members and likely won't be doing so for the foreseeable future . . . but I could always change my mind.
On to other things:
The Tale of Sinuhe received an excellent review by Jamie Murphy (Salvage Press) in the current issue (no. 50, Spring 2026) of Parenthesis, the journal of the Fine Press Book Association.
I quote the final, summary paragraph here:
With The Tale of Sinuhe, Consensus Press has achieved more than a debut volume; it has demonstrated the viability of a member-driven fine press that balances erudition with aesthetic integrity. Should the experiment continue, and one fervently hopes it will, it may stand as a model for how community, craftsmanship, and care can coexist, if only by consensus.
He had lots of other nice things to say as well.
