Is there a way to search more than the subject line of a Group?

I don't always have time to respond to a comment (in an already starred topic) and want to get back to it. Then I forget exactly in which topic it was located. D'oh!

Is there an LT way to search, beyond just the Topic, for a keyword or even a member's name in groups?

ETA: other suggestions to help with my dilemma could be helpful, doesn't have to be an LT search only.

I'm not really sure right now about the full answer to your question, but I do know that there isn't an easy way on LT to see all posts by a particular member, and that's on purpose to reduce a potential avenue for harassment.

The > pointers don't show up in the search either, since they're algorithmically displayed - the member name isn't embedded into the post itself.

There is a way to get thread contents to show in the search results, just not one I can tell you off the top of my head. (I think maybe after searching, switch to "Messages"???)

Okay a quick test!

Wren you do your search, select Talk from the "where to search" and then "Messages" to search the full text instead of the topic headers ("Topics").

Ah, but i just realized, this is all Talk, not limited to a Group. Hmm...

>1 DebiCates: Yes. Go to the group page and use the search box that appears there just above the list of topics. It will take you to what appears to be the site search page but is only searching in the one group. You can use that to search for words that are used in the message, but as others mentioned it does not work for usernames unless those have been actually typed in the message.

However, messages are not indexed for searching immediately, so messages from the last few days might not appear in the search results.

Two other methods you might find helpful:
- You can mark messages in a topic as unread. This is helpful if it's a topic you will definitely remember to come back to later if it has unread messages, such as a topic started by you. (I use this a lot for my own 75ers topic, when I want to see what people have posted there but I don't have time to respond immediately)
- You can mark individual messages as "favorites" and then can find a list of favorites under Talk > More > Favorited Messages

Both of these are options underneath each message if you click "More"

@keristars and @norabelle414 thank you! I'll get back with you later, after I have a chance to test these suggestions. I knew folks here on WTLT would offer suggestions and I need not just shrug, "bummer."

Eureka! The "Add to Favorites" option is the one that I think will work quite well going forward. A very good solution for my issue, in fact.

Thank you both.
